Wines in the vineyard of Maastricht: the Apostelhoeve
Hidden in the Limburg landscape lies this classic and stunner of a vineyard. Hello Apostelhoeve Maastricht! Looking out over the rolling hills, on top of the Louwberg - one of the most beautiful places in Limburg and close to Maastricht - you can sip your wine during a wine tasting and enjoy it in all its glory. Wine lovers: Meet the Apostelhoeve and go wine tasting in the vineyard of Maastricht!
You imagine yourself here - when you drive up, or cycle for the sporty ones among us - in a small, French village. Holiday! The central focus of the Apostelhoeve? The monumental Apostelhoeve, dating from the 15e century.
In 1970, this wine estate began producing the very, yes, truly the very first wines in the Netherlands. Currently, the estate comprises 20 hectares. Various grape varieties are planted here, yielding seven dry white wines. Don't forget the bubbles, which are now also produced here at Apostelhoeve: the Riesling Brut, Apostelhoeve Cuvée XXI Brut, and Apostelhoeve Cuvée St. Pieter Brut. Go ahead and uncork that bottle! cheers.
A guided tour – naturally ending in a tasting – is, of course, an option: from viewing the vineyards to the production process and the final wine cellars. Everything is explained in detail. You conclude the tour with a tasting in one of the, dare we say, extremely cozy tasting rooms. During this tasting, you are free to look, smell, taste, and ask questions. Everything revolves around wine, which we are perfectly fine with. In the glass-fronted tasting room, you have a view of those often-mentioned rolling Limburg hills and vineyards. FinallyLong story short: this is what you want. At the end of the wine tasting, you decide which one you like best. We recommend that you take a bottle (or case) of that wine home with you.
We can only say: go! Imagine yourself a god in France – okay, the Netherlands. While sipping your Maastricht bubbly, watch the sunset over the vineyards and see the city in the distance. Longing for those warm summer evenings, here's a great tip for getting that holiday feeling in your own country. Vive la vin!
