Holiday Home in The Netherlands

The Blokhutboot, a tiny house on the water

What do you get when you combine a tiny house with a boat? The Blokhutboot of course. You sail towards your own adventure and sleep in nature. This unique concept – a tiny house on the water – lets you sail freely through four beautiful sailing areas in the Netherlands. Dogs and kids? They just come along. Here it's all about relaxing, enjoying and waking up every morning with a different view.

Location, location, location

The fun part is that you can choose where you go on an adventure. The Blokhutboot sails in four of the most beautiful nature reserves in the Netherlands. That means lots of nature, peace, adventure, and a phenomenal view wherever you are.

Further south in our country you will find the Biesbosch. This water-rich nature reserve is an absolute top attraction. Lakes, creeks and narrow waterways take you past the greenery and the animals that live here. If you are lucky, you will spot beavers, kingfishers and ospreys.

In the nature reserve The Linge you can sail a picturesque route along historic dike villages and the old fortified town of Gorinchem, hello holiday feeling. From your sailing tiny house dive into nature and history while walking on the estate Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt. Tea and treats galore in this tea garden. Extra fun: with the canoe you bring with you, you can on adventure and discover narrow tributaries.

The Bommelerwaard is one of the most versatile sailing areas. A beautiful dynamic between nature and cozy harbors. Light a campfire, barbecue or along the old ruins of Batenburg. There is enough to do everywhere. Also in nature reserve The Land of Maas and Waal. The water is easy to navigate and there are no tides, easy, peasy, does it. Here are beautiful natural jetties where you can completely leave everything behind. Chirping birds and natural beaches with wild horses. Add a setting sun and you're done. Life is good.

The eye wants something too

The Blokhutboot is tough on the outside, comfortable on the inside. Everything you need is there - from a complete kitchen to a nice bed - and nicely cleverly furnished. But let's be honest, you don't come for a weekend log cabin boats to sit inside. Nature is the star player here.

Those days, they do pass on the spacious deck, where you can stare endlessly at the water and the beautiful surroundings. With a glass of wine in your hand, the sun sinks sick, while the water gently laps against the raft. And if you really want to become one with nature (you will have to), then jump under the outdoor shower and feel fresh and free, in the middle of the green. Here everything revolves around being outside and with that exterior it is fine.

Restaurants nearby

Fancy a treat? Drop anchor and treat yourself. In the Bommelerwaard score a delicious meal at The Sand Lakes or stroll through the center of Kerkdriel in for a tasty surprise. Want something different? Then hop to the picturesque city harbor of Heusden – that's always a good idea.

Not sailing for a while? No problem. In The program Land of Maas and Waal is Mother Mooren your go-to for breakfast, lunch and dinner. And for those who can't sit still, there are plenty of activities. Along The Linge enjoy the most beautiful tea gardens and on Mariënwaerdt estate taste the region at its best. Sounds like a plan, right? Time to put those taste buds to work.

Keffers & Kroost

Yes, yes and yes again! The Blokhutboot is perfect for families with children (of all ages) and any furry friends. Dogs are welcome on board, and for kids there is guaranteed life jacket fun. Floating in the water, or discovering nature from the boat: it will certainly be an adventure you will never forget.

The Blokhutboot is not just a holiday home, but an experience. Nobody will be bored for a moment - swimming, canoeing, fishing - and the dog? He will also have a great time at the water's edge.

It is also great that you can go out on the water without a boating license. That is really enjoying the freedom to determine your own course, on the water it quickly feels like home. The fact that you can wake up every morning with a different view - from the green of nature to the historical charm of a town - makes this concept unique.
