Café Publiek: the already beloved newcomer in Amsterdam East
It goes without saying that we love good and affordable food, a low-key atmosphere, and a healthy dose of coziness when it comes to restaurants. And that was exactly what was missing from the popular yet somewhat dreary Dapperplein in Amsterdam East. Not anymore, because Café Publiek ticks all the boxes. A delightful spot with the sweetest staff and a simple yet perfect menu.
Let's start with the facts. For instance, this new café has an insanely lovely terrace right outside: deep and spacious, making it perfect for a spontaneous summer evening or for your morning coffee on a weekend. As soon as you sit down, you immediately notice that the young but passionate staff are really looking forward to it. You are served and provided with advice with a big smile.
The menu features simple and original dishes. For instance, there are three different "skewers" available, with delicious garnishes (and vegetarian options for those who prefer), and to start your meal there is a tasty snack card with bread and whipped butter (how could it be otherwise?), but also homemade Pickles, pickles, and of course a bitterball. Furthermore, the vegetable dishes are more than fine, such as the asparagus topped with a delicious crumble and roasted leeks.
Make sure you leave room for dessert because the cakes and cookies (cookie with ice cream, hello) are divine. We will be back soon to enjoy and taste more, and to spend more time there.
