Dine on fire at CAMINO Copenhagen
In the Kødbyen district, aka gain Meatpacking District in Copenhagen, the slaughterhouses have made way for numerous cozy bars and restaurants. One of those restaurants, where cooking is done on an open fire, is CAMINO. For one on fire dinner and atmosphere are good here.
At CAMINO, dishes from Spanish-French cuisine are prepared over an open fire. Although in most cases this means that large piles of meat are served and you end up with one smokey jacket – which will remind you of your restaurant visit for days – walks out the door, that is not the case here. It turns out that appearances (and the name of the neighborhood) are deceiving, because even as a vegetarian you can eat excellently here. In addition to modest portions of meat and fish, a lot of vegetables are grilled.
CAMINO is chic, but not too chic and there is a friendly atmosphere. The seven courses we ate were all equally delicious. Telling exactly what is in front of you is and remains a task; luckily the friendly waiters take that task seriously. It's not that important, as long as it tastes good. And it does that at CAMINO. Smoked almonds, green asparagus, fried eggplant... todo rico. Also important: for the enthusiast, the choice of wine is enormous.
