Told you so: spent a lot of time in my own country lately. Not far from home (Breda) this time: Dordrecht!

People from Dordrecht are called 'sheep heads,' and 'the closer you get to Dordt, the rotter it gets' is another well-known saying. We still don't get it: we always find Dordrecht, conveniently located just outside Rotterdam, to be a fantastic day out. And especially in autumn. Historical charm, culinary delights, unique and smaller shops, and nature just a stone's throw away, with a city that looks its most beautiful in the October light.

We did the tour again and are 100% sure we will do it again, because man, Dordrecht is a hit. And that is why we present the tips for a (autumn) day in Dordrecht, the best of the South Holland city.

And every time I think again: why don't we go more often?! I thoroughly enjoyed two days on Terschelling at @elements_bydutchen. Truly an insane, very Dutch, un-Dutch (do we still say that now that the Netherlands has become so nice? No, actually not, but then you understand what I mean) hotel on the Frisian beach of Terschelling.

To be honest: the hotel and restaurant @duunterschelling were so nice, and the weather so bad, that we mostly stayed 'at home' - just what the doctor ordered, so to speak. But we did do something! Below is your 'save for later', our favs on the island:

We (Maartje & fam.) are, as we speak, busy finalizing our umpteenth (LUCKY US!!) Christmas in South Africa, our absolute favorite place with the kids.

And Marcelle & fam have already been living in South Africa for 10 years this year! They both had kids there and are currently slowly rolling out of winter and into summer.

But... South Africa? With kids? Isn't that nerve-wracking? We both get this question very often! The answer is simple: no, provided you stick to both the written and unwritten rules.
