On a different note… Of course, this is mainly about the hospitality industry, or rather about our home. World traveler versus homebody. However, I invariably hear myself saying to people: Insta isn't real life, right? What you see is often 'just work'. My work certainly isn't just work, but for me, it is just my work too. And although the things I struggle with in real life feel like small potatoes compared to global issues, they *are* struggles. For instance, lately at the restaurant table, there has been a lot of talk about hormone balance when you aren't 3x7 (yay!) and the combination with the fact that it's just a lot. Work, kids, life. The works. We all struggle with that, sometimes a bit more than usual. After a few visits to the GP and following their advice, I ended up at the Pomme Clinic in Amsterdam, run by two sisters, one focusing on the outside and the other on the inside. To put it very bluntly. A big (unsponsored) tip for anyone also swinging from left to right and just not quite knowing what to do anymore. Personally, I’ve been getting quite discouraged lately by all the advice (and advice in various podcasts). It made me restless and, above all, insecure. After all: what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another, and what one person needs is superfluous for another. In any case, I got a huge amount of frustration from all the tips. Sweet, really, but for me, way too much (contradictory) information. At Pomme, I personally found a listening ear for my concerns and (hopefully) a solution (we are on our way). And I wish that for everyone. I deliberately won't share a detailed account of what seems to work for me. Not because I don't want to share that, but because everyone is different. But I do want to give a shout-out to seek out tailored advice from the pros, and in my case, a ♥️ for @pommeclinics
And here it is, finally, our garden house! So happy with it. The garden has suddenly become a sort of South of France meets the Cotswolds, and I’ve already completely turned it into my workspace. It was a huge job... And we learned a lot from it. And I’ll leave it at that ;-) The starting point was really to use and reuse what was already there: the large white tiles are from Karwei and we mixed them with black tiles left over from our bathroom. That way, you very easily get an original floor. And because the ground in front of the house is very uneven, we built a deck in front of it, creating a real island. The cushions on the sofa inside come from the garden of our old house, and the square striped mattress cushions are from Karwei. Just like the lamps. The yellow table is new, the green pouf and the large parasol are from Karwei from last year (the same goes for the garden table and the chairs in the foreground: whoever saves things...). I can already hear the call for the colors ;). Everything comes from Karwei's mixing service, but with Farrow and Ball color codes. The green is Bancha No. 298, the yellow is Dayroom Yellow No. 233, and the red is Romesco No. CB4. You provide these names and codes to the mixing service, and that's it!
