Dane Cottage in Wincle near Manchester has everything for the best holiday

Sometimes you really come across those pearls that you still talk about years later, because everything, absolutely everything, was perfect. The house, the furnishings, the hospitality of the people, that environment. Everything, everything, everything. So too Dane Cottage in the uber-cute Wincle in England. The easiest way to get there is by car, but it is still doable without it. From Manchester Central or Airport you take the bus to Macclesfield and if you ask nicely, the owners will be happy to pick you up from the station in Macclesfield (and even wait a while at the supermarket to purchase all the drinks you need!).

It is not nature, but the city? Manchester is nearby and has lots of fun (and as a real foodie city, it has a lot of tasty things).

At the edge of a green valley in a lovely cozy alley you will find Dane CottageThe cottage itself is as delightful as the setting: a beautiful country kitchen with views across the valley, an AGA stove (so lovely and warm in winter) and one of those doors that opens at the top so you can lean out of the door in the morning and enjoy the view. The little sitting area at the front of the house is the perfect spot for a pint from the Wincle Brewery and has sunshine most of the day. There is a snug with log fire on the first floor, a big and soft bed on the top floor (so with the best views) and a bathroom with bath.

The village of Wincle actually has nothing, except exactly what you need: a microbrewery Wincle Brewery next door with a nice beer garden (the brewer is your neighbor) and even finer ales, the typical English pub Ship Inn is just a quick stagger away and so much nature to discover. You can walk for hours without meeting anyone or find the busier routes (then you pass by local farms with homemade ice cream and more pubs). Take the route to Three Shires Head for some paddling and a real picnic as it should be.
