Greek style, just like on holiday: this is how you do Greece in the Netherlands
Of course we feel like sun, sea and fresh Greek fish 365 days a year. Sure. Without a doubt. But the reality is that duty calls and we have to work in island country most days of the year. Bummer. Then it's a good thing that every working day comes to an end and that you can simply go to a holiday destination in your own country. Greek style, just like on holiday. And the (really nice) Greek restaurants are now on the rise! Greece in the Netherlandsyou do it like this:
There is no throwing of plates yet, but otherwise the Oli Mazi restaurant in Utrecht is perfect the real deal. A wonderful restaurant where live music greets you as soon as you open the doors. The dishes are for sharing and the staff will do anything to please you.
And immediately read about our other favorites in Utrecht: Lunch 22 times in Utrecht
Hot off the press: The Gyros Club in The Hague. A hip Greek like you never knew before. You can read all about it here
When you call your business 'Good Taste', the bar is of course immediately set several meters high. But in Leiden they get away with it! And how. In any case, the restaurant has Rodos Good Taste in Leiden, nothing at all to do with the well-known slightly unsightly Greek restaurants that normally bear the title 'Rhodes' and where your eyes hurt from the blue-white tiles and garlic cloves on the wall. No, Rodos Good Taste is tasteful on all fronts. Chairs and tables made of light wood, fresh dishes on beautiful earthenware and unusually delicious authentic Greek dishes. Don't miss: the grilled octopus with lemon-olive dressing.
For a Greek surprise in The Hague, head to Kerkplein. Knossos is located in the beautiful building with the round red-white awnings at number 1, where authentic Greek dishes go hand in hand with our Dutch taste. Not us, probably not you either, but the taste of the average Dutch person. Knossos handles this well: after a delicious Mousaka, the restaurant has a hamburger on the menu, but in Greek style. And so the Greeks simply lead us Dutch by the hand. And no one will say no to a plate of Giros from Knossos.
So good, right there in Delft The Little Greek.
Also Roffa goes Greek. At restaurant Olympia Kitchen Bar excellent fish and excellent meat dishes. Exactly why you go on holiday to Greece, but then at the Schiedamse Vest, all in all our eternal epicenter when in Rotterdam. Do yourself a favor and give the men's and women's service a free hand when it comes to the wines: you didn't know it could taste like this, I promise. Vegetarian? Also a good idea.
Almere? Mais oui, we will even come to Almere City. Or should we say in this case: ναι ναι (Greek for yesja, Google Translate told us). The menu features classic Greek dishes – exactly what you went to De Griek for. Mixed grill. A crispy sea bream. Seasoned meatballs… Anyway, you get it. Important bonus: the staff is friendly and in good spirits.

Near Limani in the cozy, typically Dutch fortified town of Hellevoetsluis, the Greek restaurant Limani has a beautiful location on the harbor in the heart of the city. Does that ring any bells? Can! Limani means port in Greek, and that immediately indicates what is on the table here: Greek-style fish dishes.
The Ntafopoulos (aha) family restaurant honors Greek traditions in their Rhodes restaurant. The modern Greek interior is light and stylish and – surprise – this also applies to the menu (Greek cuisine is not always known for its light dishes, but here it goes well). Recommendations? The grilled octopus and stuffed calamari. Oh, and the Greek wines!
And then – also for the Greek – we promptly ended up back in Almere. Not entirely coincidental, because Olympia restaurant is a good one. If you want to know what Spanakotiropita is, you should definitely reserve a table. The folks at Olympia know what they are doing and have been doing so at Olympia in the port of Almere for more than 25 years. For a fixed amount you can eat unlimited mezzes here on weekdays. Choose a spot in the restaurant, the stylish conservatory or in the sun on the terrace. Fun fact: the city of Olympia is located in a southern Greek valley and is the ancient sanctuary of Zeus. That's besides the point.
More Almere? We have. This is how you spend 24 hours in Almere
