Hanseatic city of Kampen: the hotspots for food, drinks and to do's
On to the humble Hanseatic city on the IJssel: Kampen. Kampen (also known as the cigar city) has been buzzing since the thirteenth century: fishermen, craftsmen and merchants used to provide activity, and now it is the residents, day trippers and tourists. The history can still be admired: impressive gates throughout the city, you can spot the golden wheels at the City Bridge and the hundreds of monuments in the historic city center provide an authentic appearance. Back to the days of yore when you are in Kampen. But there is more to do and see! Read all about the hotspots in Kampen and you will definitely want to visit it sometime.
The 'Kleur de Hanze' event is on from December 22 to 30! And that's quite a teamwork project, because everyone can participate! You download a coloring page, color it (or let the kids do it) and then you upload it again.
If your drawing has been selected to be projected on the Hanzepand, you will be notified via the email you provided when uploading (you will receive that email sometime in mid-December) and you will immediately know when and where your artwork will be projected. be!For example at the Vischpoort in Harderwijk or the City Hall in Doesburg. Every day, a building is highlighted with projections in each of the nine participating Hanseatic cities between 17:00 PM and 23:00 PM.
Cultural history to the max The Unicorn Coffee & Tea en Tobacco factory De Olifant (the first and only tobacco factory still in operation in Kampen). If you want to experience the glorious times of the Hanseatic League anywhere, it is in these places. Learn all about the world of coffee, tea and tobacco during a tour or tasting. Both the Unicorn and the Elephant can also be found in beautiful warehouse buildings, so have your camera ready, folks.
Also take a look at the Koggewerf. The reconstruction of an excavated cog was built on a headland on the IJssel between 1994 and 1998: the Camper Kogge. With these ships the merchants brought the goods to the Hanseatic cities and that meant wealth that is still visible today. Book a tour, view the medieval Brunneper house or have a drink in the Tavern. Culture + a drink = the ideal daytime activity.
