Perfect place in a perfect city: Hotel Grand Joanne Copenhagen
At somersaulting distance from Copenhagen Central Station you will find the recently renovated (2023) hotel Grand Joanne. If Joanne had been a real lady, she would definitely have looked great. Just as splendid as Copenhagen itself.
Hotel Grand Joanne is one of those places where everything seems to be just right. This is primarily due to the 18th century corner building in which she lives. She is also impressive on the inside. The rooms have comfortable beds with linen bed skirts, crunchy bedding and pillows that you can completely disappear into. The bathroom has a rain shower, olive green tiles on the wall and a herringbone floor. Every detail has been taken into account; the wardrobe is illuminated, there is a hand steamer to make your blouses wrinkle-free again so that your own outfit looks great again, and even the hair dryer has a diffuser for curly heads.
The temptation to never leave your room again is great, but it is still a good idea to do so. That this is a good idea is already clear in the stairwell – with stained glass windows and zebra print stair runners. An equally beautiful one in the basement gym where you can work up a sweat or take a yoga class, and on the roof there is a rooftop bar where you can enjoy a drink in the sun. Copenhagen is chock full of nice restaurants, but if you don't feel like eating out, you can go for Danish food at in-house Joanne's restaurant.
