For a villa where the rich lived, the building looks true Boutique hotel Hôtel Ville d'Hiver it is somewhat industrialAnd we have something to confess; indeed no one lived there. The Social Hub Toulouse

The Social Hub Toulouse

It's nice when a hotel serves as more than just a good place to sleep. That is exactly why we are so happy to drop by The SocialHub and the one in Toulouse is no exception. Toulouse is lovely anyway and The Social Hub is where it's happening. Not only fun for holidaymakers, but also for travelers, locals and students. They have, as they say, a hybrid customer base here – of all ages and more than 194 nationalities. Everyone is welcome to come and learn, stay, work and play. Difficult story? Maybe to explain, but inside we promise you party. The Social Hub in Toulouse is best seen as a combination of a boutique hotel, student rooms and extended stay rooms. And there is a lot to do there (hello weekly events), such as a work café, fitness room, terraces, bars and a swimming pool on the roof with the best panoramic view in the city. We love this multi-bird-with-one-stone concept.

The hotel is located opposite the Place de l'Europe and the Jardins Compans Caffarelli park (for those who are not so familiar with the city, it is very central).

Oh hello, ultimate (classic) dream hotel in the French countryside. Hello Provence, hello Hôtel Crillon le Brave. Hello, never go home again!

Hôtel Crillon le Brave is the topic of conversation and that is one of them. The hotel borders a 17th-century hamlet in the Vaucluse department, a charming part of Provence (France) full of vineyards (raise your hands!) and dotted with old stone villages (also hello Instagram). Boutique Hotel SOCLO, Toulouse

Look, that's one of those Booking.com finds that we would never have found without a last-minute search. Hôtel Le Coucou, Méribel

Hôtel Le Coucou, Méribel

You can't make us happier than with a hotel that is sincere family friendly is. And by that we mean that it should also be fun for mom and dad. After all, it is not the case that our taste buds have suddenly disappeared since we had kids. And we still have eyes, thank you very much. Hôtel Le Coucou in Méribel, France, meets all expectations: family-friendly, beautiful and a playful translation of the traditional ski chalet in the chic French Alps.

The hotel was opened in December 2019 by Maisons Pariente, a small family business led by French owner Patrick Pariente (the founder of the 70s ready-to-wear brand Naf Naf) and his daughters. Their portfolio also includes Hôtel Crillon le Brave in Provence and Hotel Lou Pinet in Saint Tropez. Ah. Good people.

The light tones of the hotel are reminiscent of ice cubes, backrests are carved like cuckoo beaks, there are owl-shaped coat hooks, furniture legs in the shape of ski poles and polka dot rugs. Everything is soft and warm and practical: there is plenty of space for ski equipment in light wooden cupboards and spacious bathrooms with deep baths and Le Labo items. The Beef Bar is open for lunch and dinner and focuses on, yes, all kinds of beef. The star dish at the Italian restaurant Bianca Neve is the risotto al tartufo, and this is also where breakfast is served. And, many thanks for this, there are nice playrooms for children, and an excellent spa for non-skiers. Is it worth it? Yes, it's worth it. Hôtel Le Coucou, Méribel

EXPERIMENTAL CHALET, VERBIER

EXPERIMENTAL CHALET, VERBIER

The Alps of the past are no more. At least not really, especially when you check in at always-good-Verbier in Switzerland the Experimental Chalet. Experimental? Yes. That is another one from the French Experimental Club with, among other things, wonderful catering Mallorca and Ibiza and from, among others, the Henriette Hotel in London + hotels such as Grand Pigalle (fav) and Grands Boulevard, both in Paris. And now also in Experimental in the snow. Canal St. Martin cool meets classy just saying. And we love love love it.

Experimental Chalet is the name. There is no lobby: the ground floor is almost entirely devoted to areas for eating and drinking. Tables and chairs as far as the eye can see, covered with velvety fabrics in peach, pistachio and olive. It is a semi-classic alpine chalet style hotel with gabled roof and wooden balconies, but completely different from anything else in the ski village. It will come as no surprise that the clientele is young, hip, multilingual, well-dressed and handsome.

HOTEL LES CABANETTES

HOTEL LES CABANETTES

The South of France has always evoked the feeling of faded – and successfully regained – glory, where our parents went on a road trip in diesel convertibles with silk scarves around their heads and the reflection of the sun in the mirrors. Those were the days. At Hotel Les Cabanettes it's like stepping back into that time. This 60s design hotel has been completely restored to its former glory and is worth a visit (with or without a convertible). We mainly know it from films – and your parents' photo album – in which you see the coolest retro-design houses and hotels. It comes straight from the 60's and 70's and is nostalgically beautiful. For those who appreciate vintage interior Hotel Les Cabanettes worth a visit. The building was designed by architect and designer Armand Pellier between 1965 and 1967 and has remained structurally intact all these years. The current owners – a French-American couple – have also restored the interior styling to the old style. Read more
