The coolest hotels in Paris are low-budget hotels.
Yes, Paris. All year, every week, oui oui. But that costs a few pennies... That's true, but we also see a Revival in hotels that – surprise – are actually affordable. And no, those are most certainly not dull, boring office-style hotels with a tiny room and a hard bed. But no! The budget hotels in Paris are, believe it or not, the coolest hotels of the moment.
A stone's throw from Place Jules Joffrin and a somersault away from Montmartre, you will find Hotel Dalila. We could be a bit nitpicky, but there's no need when the hotel itself is so convenient. A wonderful night's sleep, without any hassle. An added bonus is that it looks fantastic. The hotel has had a complete makeover.
It's the first solo hotel Giovanna de Bosredon has taken on, and off she went. With the goal of bringing the outdoors in, she incorporated orange hues and dancing lettering on the facade. A warm lobby was created, complete with marble tables, vintage objects, and shelves filled with mirrors. Everything is equally impressive. The large L-shaped space recreates the atmosphere of Parisian squares and cheerful cafés with colorful tiles, green grilles, retro tables, and stacks of art books.
The ultimate IT hotel of the moment, Hotel Massé (formerly Hotel Victor Massé) is – yes indeed – surprisingly affordable! We stayed there ourselves for 220 per room per night – quite a bargain for Paris. And the walking distance to Gare du Nord is a nice bonus too.
It hotel? Definitely. That is mainly due to the hotel's enormous (and therefore enormously cool) focus on art. The hotel offers a platform for emerging artists with exhibitions in the lobby and other spaces. You can not only view the works, but also purchase them. And so it can easily happen that you take home a currently unknown masterpiece. The hotel also regularly organizes cultural events and workshops – all of them. tres coole Pigalle, a neighborhood that is already known for its creative scenes.
There is never a good time for Paris. But finding a trendy and somewhat affordable (more or less, that is) hotel in the City of Light is and remains quite difficult. A very fine and brand-new option is the beautiful Hotel Château d'Eau in the 10th arrondissement of Paris, in the Faubourg Saint-Denis district. The latest four-star hotel from the Touriste group – just Google it, always good news. The beautiful hotel is located on the corner of Rue du Château d'Eau and Rue de Paradis, within walking distance of both Gare du Nord like Gare de l'Est, and close to the very nice and creative neighborhood Canal Saint Martin (on nice days, the canal bank is full of locals). In other words: that's already 3-0 in your favor. Hotel Château d'Eau.
