Is it Miami? Is it Dubai? No, it's Spain and you can still stay in LA MURALLA ROJA!
Instagram galore to the max! On to The Red Wall or The Pink Wall. Anyone who sees photos of this crazy project by architect Ricardo Bofill expects an inaccessible place somewhere in California, or near Miami, or Mexico perhaps. Nothing could be further from the truth: this pink-blue architectural masterpiece and most photogenic address in the area is located on the edge of Calpe, an old Spanish fishing village, close to Benidorm and an hour's drive from Alicante (Here you can read everything about Alicate, secretly a surprisingly nice city, we can tell you!)
Wandering around the walls, climbing a staircase and of course a photo session for Instagram fame is a wonderful change from your beach days. Although you may have to do some antics: The Red Wall is a private residence. The outside is beautiful, but inside the labyrinth is where the real party is: you walk through a work of art, inspired by the Mediterranean kasbah with interlocking stairs, platforms, bridges and a swimming pool on the roof with a beautiful view of the bay. There are fifty apartments and… one Airbnb! You sleep with that superhost Viktoria. She rents out two of her modern, colorfully decorated apartments. The iconic location itself is more than enough reason to book but if you're not yet convinced by the photos, know that the city center of the old Calpe is only a ten-minute walk, and the beach is less than five minutes.
