Kids to go: the best things in Eindhoven for the small stuff
There are not many people who consider Eindhoven to be the most picturesque city in the country. This is because the city lacks historic facades, canals and avenues. Yet this is more than made up for with creative catering, galleries and shops. And with fun initiatives for those with the kids is on the road for a day (or more)! Because who wonders if Eindhoven has plenty of fun to do with the little things, both indoors and outdoors, probably hasn't been around for a while. And so 'Eindje' is not the craziest yet...
It can be your first (and last, by the way) pit stop Liek or Bij Liek are a socially active café-restaurant with small supermarket. If it can be delivered sustainably, responsibly and for a good price, it can be delivered to Liek, otherwise not. This results in a varied and surprising offering. You can have breakfast all day, lunch is from 08:30 AM to 15:00 PM and after 15:00 PM you can go to the drinks menu.
Collect eggs and cuddle calves! That's why people in and around Eindhoven have been going to the Genneper Hoeve, just outside the city. For those cuddles and animal sounds, but also for your milk, cheese and vegetables, this is the best address in the area. Oh, and there is even a picking garden. Oh again: during the holidays, summer and winter, autumn and spring, there is always something fun organized that matches the season. Last but not least: don't forget to bring your own bottle, so you can go home with fresh milk at the end of the day. We had you at hello, isn't it?
Tapped the Hoeve? That's great because from there it's a nice walk of about 8 minutes (okay, 20 with those little ones. Or half an hour... But it's still a nice walk, as they say in Eindhoven) to Pavilion Genneper Parken. A beautiful and pleasant park pavilion with a remarkably good menu and a clear play area for the little ones. And so you sit there, wonderfully in the park, the glory itself.
There is no shortage of coffee addresses in Eindhoven; it must be due to the large number of students and workers who move in and out of the center every day. One of the nicest, with the best coffee, is 't Koffiehuisje Eindhoven, a cozy white house transformed into a coffee shop. Above all, go for the latte macchiato with something tasty.
Who the pizzas from Da Portare If you don't know them yet, that should change quickly: they are located throughout the country and Da Portare is a great tip everywhere. But in Eindhoven a little more than elsewhere, because here you will find a piece of Italy on wheels on Sundays during the summer months: a red pizza bus from Da Portare Pizza, set up in the meadow. Those little ones can have fun while you sit on a rug and with a bottle of See That It's Good.
Brothers Hub and Wim van Doorne, they used to lay the foundation for a small machine factory and forge. This only later developed into the largest truck manufacturer in all of Europe. The DAF Museum is located in the Tongelre district and is great fun for the kids.
Who knows, maybe the parents or grandparents have driven such a DAF. Not only can you look at the cars and trucks, but for the kids there is a treasure hunt through the museum. You can get this information for free at the checkout.
The former Philips factories, you know, Strijp S and Strijp R, have faced competition from it NRE site, one of the oldest places in the Brabant City of Light where nothing actually happened until recently. For example, you can go to the cycling café Cyclist, but also to FIFTH NO a fact. In a large, bright warehouse you can enjoy breakfast, lunch or just a drink all day long. There is its own coffee roaster, a large inviting restaurant, a (cocktail) bar and a stage for mainly jazz performances. A shed. So big. So run. Okay.
