Kids to go: Florine Duif shares 3 fun places for you and the kids (where it is also fun for you!)
We love a new 'discover-your-place' or an old favorite and that's why we stamp it Kids to Go of us nice and full. With what? The (sometimes literally) tastiest places to brave all the children's stuff, the nicest home entertainment, fun things to keep the little ones entertained and the best of the best tips to fill in some extra bonus time. Because it's easy? Coming up with children's entertainment...
This time it is Florine Duif, busy bee and the brain behind a lot of fun (founder of The Mompany, bodhipillow and of course the platform Florine Duif), delved into her collection of favorite places to drag her kids to (or the other way around, they're that fun). And Florine knows all about that. As of 2019, she has not one, not two, but three children. Three times as much love (yes, really!), three times as much lugging and three different ages, which means if the plan is to do something together, it's something they all enjoy. No. Guard. Hello. Which we - mom and dad - also enjoy. Minor detail.
Apart from the fantastic exhibitions that take place there, the museum is simply a nice place to stroll around. The vibe is good: it is light, big, beautiful and basically everything that makes you happy. And there is plenty to do for the children. Think of the swimming pool Leandro Erlicht which is still not boring after about fifteen visits. The mouse lift that you want in your home (99% sure that this lift is really made for mice and that there is a real mouse family, no wait, mouse city, in Voorlinden). Don't forget the maze. And the giant people, who may be a bit intimidating for some of their offspring. But if you look at them up close, they are very sweet. Oh and don't forget the garden around Voorlinden. Because even if you don't enter the museum, it is wonderful to spend time there in that lush garden. Among the field flowers, surrounded by greenery, the peace and quiet, birdsong, reeds along the pond and in the distance you hear a dog barking somewhere. Sigh. The children can run and a safari tent has recently been set up with a limo and cake. Our advice? To go.
Wherever the kids' trip takes you, always remember to be prepared and bring a bag full of snacks. By NaturNes Bio, for example. That is guilt-free snacking on it all day long apple cookies (we like it too…).
A beautiful play paradise with wooden (tree house) equipment, lots of space and an attached coffee shop. Not one where you sit among tons of screaming children and your eyes work overtime because you are constantly looking for where your offspring is. No, this is a nice, light, fairly quiet place where you just like to be. Point.
It is like this: The Treehouse Club, on the lovely Boekhorststraat in The Hague, is an extremely tasteful combination of catering for adults and fun for children. So to speak, the second home for young families. The interior (beautiful Scandinavian woodwork), the reading table, the lunch menu and especially the aperitif section on the menu make it an unmissable hotspot for parents. A hip yuppie naturally has yuppie children and believe us, they won't want anything else after a visit to De Boomhuttenclub.
Let's let go of The Hague for a moment. Because although there are many other nice things to mention (Pluk!, Park Meijendel, the beach. People - let's not forget the beach!), we imagine ourselves heading towards Amstelveen. Because are you ready for a short-term outing with the family? Then is House on the Amstel great for a nachie away (we'll keep the Hague in it for a while). Huisje aan de Amstel consists of six monumental holiday homes, a few of which meet the requirements family edition. The name says it all; spacious, fully equipped and a rocking chair. So what mom will be sitting in, just to be clear. You can get a breath of fresh air during the day in the adjacent petting zoo, while the evenings are for hot chocolate (with rum for you and your partner) by the – okay, it's fake, but the idea is no less nice – fireplace. Also fun to do: sail a boat. You can rent a sloop to explore the area. It remains fun to discover the region from the water.
