Kids to go: Treats for the little ones: those things that you can get at any daycare center

Maybe it's us but we always dread it like a mountain: the Treat. Yes, with a capital letter yes, because nowadays a little treat is an eye-opener and if we are very honest again, we secretly really enjoy gouging out a little eyes. That's how we are again. And that's where the stress begins: how, what, where on earth! Because if possible, it should be fun, tasty, and without too much effort. Thank you very much. Is that possible? Yes! That's possible. We will come up with a list for the older children, but we will start at the nursery (because yes, that is where it all starts).

Yoghurt popsicles

Yoghurt popsicles

Our minis love two things: ice cream and yogurt. From childhood. So it is not surprising that we start with a combination of the two. You should check whether you can have a treat at the beginning of the day, or whether you can come running in at the end. Or else you can save them for home!

How do you do that? Let's take a bowl Plant-based Mango Kiwi baby dessert van NaturNes Bio (that's new and a hit here at home), (silicone) mini muffin tin or small round containers, wooden popsicle sticks, a little honey and fresh fruit (whatever you like. Berries and raspberries look nice).

Stir the (organic) honey into the yogurt, cut the fruit into small pieces and divide them among the molds, pour the yogurt into the containers, insert the wooden sticks and cover with cling film. Place in the freezer for 3 hours and your party is ready!

Thimbles

Most little ones don't really care about a treat, but a colorful toy... that does the trick!

We struck, how simple, an apple cookie from NaturNes Bio in a (knitted) finger puppet. Completely fun and ready in 3,2,1... We bought this via Etsy, but google it and you will find it!

(If you feel like it and have the time: there is also a very nice one booklet which explains how to knit these dolls yourself! Look, and then you really score high.)

Also fun: put such a figure on a breadstick! A label card on each doll for each child and it is immediately cozy. Photo of the stems via voedzaamensnel.nl

nibble vegetables

Admittedly, when you come across these vegetable nibbles individually, they are not that impressive, but a bowl full of pencils or mushrooms... Yes, yes. that will do the trick! So make sure you also put some love into the tray on which you transport all the stuff: all teachers (and okay, the kids too) think an attractive autumn table and a cool desk are cool.

And further? Furthermore, it is quite simple: cut the carrots into thin pencils with a (not so) sharp point and dip the tip in tahini; that is a black sesame paste that sticks nicely. A little bit of chocolate spread is also possible!

For the bunch of mushrooms you need things like carrots, tomatoes, bananas, tangerines, a small apple and whatever else you can think of, and edible flowers for fun. A stump of one thing and a roof of another. Add a skewer and put the flower on top!

A tangerine becomes Nemo very easily with a pair of googly eyes or even just a black marker. The special effect is in the packaging: blow some air into a bag and tie a string with a label around it!

These fish have wings made of thick orange cardboard.

At the table treat

A wonderful Instagram account to follow is HelloSweetandSavage by the English Rachel Savage. She made the most delicious treats with her children. Most are for older children, but the little ones will also appreciate these: rainbows for dinner.

How do you make them? Like this: get carrot, pumpkin, green beans, sweet pepper, sweet potato and regular potato. You cut them all into half-moon pieces, except for the beans (you can bend them) and the pepper (you make strips out of them so you can bend them too). And then put it together! Insert a skewer through the middle, from bottom to top. Sprinkle everything with some oil and a little spice if you like and put them in the oven for 20 minutes (place everything on baking paper first). Just be careful because they are quite fragile when they come out of the oven: the easiest way is to simply tear the baking paper and put everything completely on a plate. Just pull the skewer away and you're done!

Be anyway the apple cookies and the Nutripops from NaturNes Bio a treat in itself. Tie a bow around it, don't do anything about it anymore.
