Experience the real outdoors during the Estate Fair at Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt

We can regularly be found in the middle of greenery, somewhere between Utrecht and Den Bosch Glory Mariënwaerdt. A family estate of over 1.000 hectares (that's real Huge) in Beesd, in the Betuwe. Everything revolves around nature and sustainability, but yes good looking - after all, we are not blind. You can sleep there, yes, you can read all about that and more here: Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt accommodations. Do! And thank us later...

But there is more: you can cycle, walk, shop, eat, have a drink or throw a party, even without an overnight stay (although with is of course the most fun). And when you make plans, plan them somewhere in between Wednesday 21 and Sunday 25 August (2024). Then again (yes again! they have been doing it since 1995) the annual five-day event Landgoedfair Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt. And it is really a lot of fun for young and old, thanks to the countless stands with beautiful products (for yourself, nature and four-legged friends), workshops, cozy terraces, own beer, food trucks, live music, historical tours of Het Grote Huis and boat trips on the river De Linge on our own boatboat Aeltje... Right, in the agenda, that fair.

Glory Mariënwaerdt

Glory Mariënwaerdt

Let's start at the beginning: Glory Mariënwaerdt. We rarely see an estate as varied as this. Since 1734 (a while ago), Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt has been owned by the Verschuer family. The holiday homes are wonderful. And the activities are countless, all with sustainability as a top priority.

Agriculture is completely organic and this is reflected in, for example, its own estate shop. Think of home-made cheese, chutneys, jams and oil. Ah yes, a number of things from that estate shop come from the Holstein-Friesian cows that graze in the meadow. Our own herd of Lakenvelder cows provide organic meat and then the circle is complete. After you stop in the estate bakery for granola, cookies and bread. But the famous apple and walnut pies based on the secret recipe of the old Baroness are really worth it.

So, we've had that organic round, and we can now go onto the terrace of the restaurant with our own beer. Even more fun: have a picnic at the Notenlaan under the walnut tree or at the Appeldijk, with a view of the Linge river. After all, you are in nature for a reason.

Want to go inside? Sure! The beautiful locations De Nieuwe Refter and Abtsbouwing are open during the Landgoedfair, with a special menu. Under the guise of “you have to taste it”.

the Estate Fair

the Estate Fair

Nature, own products, facilities and space; of course asks for more. They thought the same way a long time ago and that is why the Estate Fair was created. We already have enough of those festivals where we spend half the time sweating in a tent this summer, at the Landgoedfair at Heerlijkheid Mariënwaerdt in Beesd you stand with your feet in nature. Everyone is welcome: the four-legged friend on a leash and the kids hopping across the land.

It will be organized from August 21 to 25, 2024. You will find hip, small shops, foodtrucks and live music. Don't forget the daily fashion show where you can peek at the latest trends and styles. The horses and birds of prey put on spectacular shows and the old agricultural vehicles make a daily round trip.

Moms, dads, grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, etc. can participate in SPOT's creative workshops. Workshops such as wrapping, macramé, drawing anime & manga, or making gemstone pendants. Or just sit back with a beer, wine and a portion of bitterballen. Know all.

Where do we put the kids then? In any case, we push a Children's Scratch Card into their hands. This map lists all the activities available and is full of fun facts and challenging puzzles. Available free of charge at the entrance. What does that say? The opportunity to have your face painted, tear with a wheelbarrow on the wheelbarrow course, or play a game of can throwing on the Children's Meadow. But also a craft table and there are donkeys, alpacas and actually the whole rambam at the animal farm with demonstrations of birds of prey, dogs and horses.

An ice cream or a portion of poffertjes should not be missed and you can take them to the food trucks. Clothes dirty? Oh well, then go shopping at the Mink & Moon stand, for example.

We already said: you would do well to spend the night there if you want to experience all the fun things.

It is now one of the largest fairs in the Netherlands. Also nice: children up to the age of four are free, from four to twelve a child ticket costs only €2,50 and up to eighteen they go for €7,50. A ticket costs €15 per person.
