Aug 2023 update: Larette closed – New in town: Larette restaurant in Amsterdam East
New in the beautiful Dutch capital: restaurant Larette in Amsterdam East. A wonderful, nice, cozy tent that approaches everything a little differently. And that's exactly what you want, trust us.
Located in perhaps the least discovered part of Amsterdam East, on the edge of the Veemarkt industrial estate (where? Right. There), you will find Larette restaurant in a nice building right on the water. With this they have immediately appropriated a rather beautiful place. Ten points because you never get a second change to make... blah blah, you get it. And it stands out. Also nice: - although un-Amsterdam - it is easy to find a parking space and the address is easily accessible by public transport/bicycle from the city center. Everyone happy. On to Larette restaurant.
What you should also know, after that pleasant exterior, is that Larette restaurant has a nice vibe. The place is somewhat reminiscent of a hotel restaurant, but without the anonymity/grandeur that such a place often has. There is a nice bar where you should actually start with a cocktail when you enter (read: we did that). The bar has an extensive and surprising list of cocktails for that holiday feeling in the city.
On to the menu. It is fairly small and that is great: less choice stress. A must? Start with the sourdough bread and whipped butter. It is surprising, thanks to the tarragon oil that is served alongside the bread and incorporated into the butter. In the main course section there is plenty of choice between meat and fish dishes and, surprise, a really good vegetarian option: the pointed cabbage deserves a ribbon. It is really good and surprising. Serve with fries or, if you're up for an exciting side dish, asparagus with miso. Jam.
And… Larette of course immediately scores 100 points by putting Kef cheese on the menu. Then you steal our hearts, that is clear.
Back quickly for lunch, because we also want to try that menu.
