New reasons to visit Scheveningen (The Hague) again
There is nothing better than a beach town where you can smell the sea but also have the facilities as if it were a city. Scheveningen is checking all the boxes. By now almost everyone knows that something new is added to Amsterdam every week (see also: new in Amsterdam), but in Scheveningen? They can do it there too. On to the coastal part of 070.
As the Circus Coffee team says themselves, it is “your favorite detour on the way to the beach”. Only open since May, but already a big favorite. And even though coffee is in the name, Circus Coffee is really about much more than just a good cappuccino (although we are happy to make a detour for that too). You can go there for colorful chia bowls, richly topped bagels (such as salmon avocado), toasties (of korean kimchi is highly recommended), specialty coffee and matchas. On the counter, you will also come across a few other things that are mostly homemade is: of chunky American-style cookies to cakes and other sweets. The interior is really incredibly stylish. We were immediately sold by the pink tiles on the counter. And that terrace? We're fans of that too. It is very spacious and the perfect place to sit down for a moment at any time of day (when the weather is nice). Feel free to bring your four-legged friend along too, no problem at all.
Dankjewellness is the Netherlands' first infusion sauna on the beach in Scheveningen. With all the hustle and bustle of daily life, wellness has become a basic necessity, aka one of the most important things in 2026. Dankjewellness already did this successfully in Leiden, but since December they've also opened a sauna on the beach in Scheveningen. And that's such a wonderful combination with an (ice-)cold dip in the sea. The founder was inspired by bathhouses around the world and the Swedish outdoors. In his search for an alcohol-free meeting place that evokes that "this is life" feeling, he ended up with a sauna. Great idea.
Bonus points: the spa collaborates with the Aloha Beach Club & Surf School, so you can easily spend an entire day there.
Wow, it is rare to come across beach bars this perfect. Hito in Scheveningen clearly belongs in the ranks of Aloha Wijk aan Zee, Republiek-style beach restaurants, because 'bar' even sounds a bit too understated. How so? Think: a permanent beach house, full of warm wood, warm colors, burgundy tiles, and the right menus (from breakfast to dinner) to make you want to sit there all day.

Yes, we hear you thinking: COCO-MAT, those delicious, sustainable sleeping products such as beds, mattresses and accessories… but a café? Yes. On the Frederik Hendriklaan (a household name in Scheveningen!) you will find the COCO-MAT Café. Here you can drink delicious Fairtrade coffee between the soft beds and piles of bedding. Perfect for a pit stop during a day of shopping on the Fred, as they say in The Hague.
More fun than fun: this tent from the famous Scheveningen Caipi boys. In the historic Zeemanshuis at the fish auction, the two men are embarking on a new chapter: a permanent place/hang-out/restaurant/café/cocktail bar. After the two have enriched many festivals with their mobile cocktail bar, it is now finally time for a permanent spot.
The program Caipi Cafe offers a relaxed atmosphere: vintage meets Surf culture with a nice, casual vibe. The menu contains a lot bites with local products from the fish auction. Additionally, there is a tasting room for their own cocktail liqueurs and a sunny terrace with a view of the harbor.
Ps. the delicious Indonesian meals come from the Javanese. The locals know that this is good news….
Cafe Constant is a classic - for the neighborhood and for a day in Scheveningen - and does not disappoint anyone. It is a wonderfully cozy meeting place between the beach and the city, with an interior that reminds of a Parisian bistro: wooden tables with candles, retro lamps and a casual atmosphere. Like
The menu is (duh!) classic French, but with a modern twist. Think steak tartare, pork rillettes, octopus with nduja butter and chicken leg with chili-macadamia and candied garlic. Kids are welcome too, there are special dishes on the menu for them, such as grilled chicken thigh or spaghetti with pesto. Double like.
In the fantastic old clubhouse with a view over the harbour of Scheveningen you can relax NorvolkHere Carla is at the helm, where she turned her hobby (baking Scandinavian delicacies) into her profession.
At Norvolk you can drink delicious coffee, but of course with something on the side. Whether that's a cinnamon bun is or a hearty dish: the taste is delicious. Rye bread with salmon and egg? Homemade meatballs with beets? Am.
You can also order a fika for the afternoon. Just pretend you're in Scandinavia. As it should be.
Het Puntje is a well-kept secret in Scheveningen. Locals know where to find it, but tourists usually don't. Maybe it's because of the nice walk you have to make through the dunes? Right at the end of the Zwarte Pad (against the nudist beach) you will find this relaxed tent.
The food is mostly organic, simple but well done. No complicated dishes, but nice bites for the beach. Perfect for children too, because of the enormous space and the baskets with lots of toys.
