Barts Best of: the nicest hotels in Ghent
a day Ghent is fun, very fun even, but a day and a night (or several) is even more fun. Because if you sit down at such a delicious Burgundian restaurant (that we collected here), it's nice not to have to drive home in the evening. With the Barts Best of: the nicest hotels in Ghent (including B&Bs and Airbnbs) you're in the right place anyway.
Something different, sleeping in (well, sort of) a studio. The 130m² (!) large Atelier Ecru Apartemento is around the corner from the Oude Vismarkt, where you can find all kinds of things nice restaurants find. The apartment is rented by the owners of Atelier Ecru, who will give you a hospitable welcome and ensure that you lack nothing. The 'living room' is bright and stylishly furnished and there is even a kitchen with a hob and dishwasher. Still useful if you stay a few nights. There is also a separate bedroom and a bathroom with shower and you can use the terrace. Plus points for this apartment if you come by car: they have a private parking space.
You find B&B Great Ghent in a prime location in the historic center of Ghent: the first plus (the B&B is a stone's throw from the always pleasant center of Ghent). Couldn't wish for more! The historic corner building has recently been renovated and the place is, we might say, a bit of Flemish magic. Inside you will be amazed: the base is a white, light everyone's friend and all kinds of eclectic accents have been added (we love) added. Everything is very well balanced and the overall picture gives you the idea (at least to us) that you are coming home (well, if we all had as much taste as owner Greetje). The B&B has four rooms, all of which have their own bathroom. The nice thing about this B&B is that you feel like a real one local feels: you can stay here for a longer period of time in one of the apartments and they are fully equipped.
On one side Ghent's famous St. Nicholas Church, on the other side the Graslei: it 1898 The Post hotel, in the former postal building of Ghent, occupies a prime location in the historic center of the city. The hotel has 38 rooms spread over two floors, both beautifully renovated with historical awareness. Dark green on the walls, octagonal marble bathroom tiles, retro taps and everything in a magnificent dark, almost earthy finish. The smallest room is the stamp room, and there is nothing wrong with that. Then come the 'letters' and the suites. The loft and the tower room (with 360-degree views) are – dude – the craziest of the bunch. Most rooms have extra high ceilings and a mezzanine. The Kitchen (the restaurant) and the Cobbler (a sitting room with fireplace and cocktail bar), but also the communal areas all have that feeling of a bygone era with old-fashioned paintings and books as props everywhere.
You will find freshness in a renovated mansion from the seventeenth century Airbnb Friday Ghent, a dream guesthouse in the heart of history Ghent. A 'seventeenth century mansion', indeed. It will come as no surprise that Friday Ghent is full of beautiful, old elements. Wooden ceiling beams, open brick walls and a carved statue in the facade. Although the three bedrooms (which can accommodate about eight people) are by no means 'old school'. Everything there is modern and comfortable, and still as authentic and charming as the rest of the building. The owners filled their residence with beautiful furniture, opted for an exciting color palette and also received the 'Green Key' sustainability label - a unique experience in Ghent. This Airbnb is also recommended with kids.
This boutique hotel is located in a monumental building a stone's throw from the historic center. This building was once the home of Baron Olivier Reylof (yes, hence the name) and this man did well with a place like this. The interior, as in all Pillows Hotels, is all design and photogenic. To get to the rooms, you walk through the garden and pass the spa with sauna, hammam and fitness room. The 157 rooms have soft carpeting, even softer beds and... walk-ins rain showers. You would almost forget that you are in beautiful Ghent and just stay indoors.
This B&B is located within walking distance of the historic center and has three rooms. The cheapest room can be booked from around 100 euros per night and for that money you also get a patio. The rooms are not large (nor very small: 17m² to 20m²), but certainly large enough to store your suitcase. The rooms are light and fresh and each room has its own bathroom with shower. When you book one of the two larger rooms, you can use the (shared) city garden. You can book breakfast for 13 euros per person.
In the middle of Patershol (an old district in the historic center), near Gravensteen Castle, you can spend the night under a glass roof in the charming garden studio from owners Akira and Aris. You have the studio to yourself and it has a kitchen and bathroom. You can also use the terrace. A unique and quiet place to sleep in the middle of the city!
Another unique Airbnb place to sleep shelter 7. This house in the center of Ghent has three floors, three double beds (two in the bedroom and one in the living room), a kitchen and a terrace. You have the entire house for you and your group alone. The furnishings consist of a mix of modern and wooden elements, creating a soothing atmosphere throughout the house. Several cozy seating areas have been created and there is a fireplace. The perfect place if you are looking for a mix between bustling Ghent and a place to relax. Read more here.
Okay okay, this one is not in Ghent, but from Sweet House Zeeland you are within half an hour's drive of the Belgian city. Weekend Zeeland and Ghent in one, call it a win-win. The charming dike house for two is located in the mini town of Turkeye (no joke), a small hamlet in West Zeeland Flanders. All details have been kept intact where possible during the renovation, so that is doubly good news: new in use, but authentic in appearance. formal and casual looks. Wifi is also available, as are two bicycles (cycling to Ghent may be a bit far). The beach is ten minutes away and from there you can also take the boat to Vlissingen (Middelburg, Veere or Domburg). Oh, not (really) suitable for children (scary stairs), but a baby is fine.
