Lunch, brunch, strolling & cocktails in Lisbon
Ah Lisbon, the new Barcelona, you could say as Portugal seems like the new Spain. Don't get us wrong: we love Spain! And how. But we praise Portugal too, increasingly so, and beautiful Lisbon is by far the favorite. The people are nice, the weather is always good and the food, oh boy that food. From nice coffee and lunch places, to flea markets and trendy clubs. You can find everything in Lisbon. Also nice: they are real coffee purists and there is a nice brunch culture, we like it!
A healthy meal or snack on the go? I don't think this was available yet, according to owners Loren & K. Smooch. From colorful smoothies with all sorts of healthy additions like blue spirulina and lion's mane, to homemade sandwiches (with 85% less gluten) made with spelt and rye wheat. And yes, it sounds healthy—and it is—but it's also truly delicious! If you're lucky, Loren has just baked the bread, and you'll walk in with the most delicious smell of freshly baked bread. They also have delicious coffees and matchas, and they're located in the charming Anjos neighborhood. By the way, you don't have to order anything. to go to take; Loren and K built the tent all by themselves scratch renovated and you can sit inside very comfortably. There is even a co-workspace. And a really cozy atmosphere. So definitely pop in!
A cheerful coffee shop in the Santa Cruz district with a bright orange interior. The Basque cheesecake is a MUST try.
No coffee, or cocktail, but a perfect snack. Drink a glass of Ginja (the local cherry liquor) at JML Lisboa. This is a tiny shop in a very touristy street that you can easily walk past. Don't do it! Have a glass (or 2) between the tourists and the locals And take a bottle home with you (7 Rua das portas de Santo Antao).
Hip place with changing exhibitions and beautiful people. A breeding ground for creativity, while enjoying a cup of coffee or a cocktail.
It is no surprise that there are many Michelin-starred restaurants in the food paradise of Lisbon. You can find them here.
You can go for a stroll here, on the Flea Market, or the 'Thieves Market'. A flea market Waterlooplein style, although it doesn't really resemble the markets we know in the Netherlands: less junk, more of everything you really need (but really), or something. Or does it all just seem a bit more exotic because the sun (often) shines? No idea, but it's a treat and a nice change from all the food and drinks.
Speaking of food and drinks: grab something too your list again! The one (as far as we are concerned) 30 must go addresses in Lisbon. Not yet the click-your-heart-and-save-the-address system here, but we are working on it!

We previously called Hello, Kristof our café-style (breakfast and lunch) favorite (see the list of 30 addresses in Lisbon), we now have to admit that the new Dear Breakfast has taken over: Hello, Kristof still wins the area of nothing going on, because gosh, we love nothing going on done well. Magazines, great coffee and leave-me-alone mentality included.
However... Dear Breakfast really wins in terms of looks: it is beautiful from floor to (round) ceiling, bright white, supplemented with plants, pink bar stools and bright blue chairs. And also a benefit when it comes to food: the fresh fruit bowls, the light toast dishes, the yummy pancakes and a truly delicious one egg benedict (in a nice small version because it is usually a bit heavy on the stomach in the end).
Well, this happened! Not only a great caterer, but also a sight to see. Highly recommended for several reasons: because of all the (cooking) inspiration you get once inside (or actually the building is also a sight to behold from the outside), to immediately try it out at home, because of the beautiful products (to take with you to to take home of course - here the bottles of olive oil and canned sardines went into the suitcase in large numbers) and because of the ready-made meals for a picnic party like never before. Everything is selected and prepared locally and with love and care. There are sandwiches, something for those with a sweet tooth and there is coffee to take away. Be sure to try the pesto, on any sandwich.

Ah, another new coffee joint and ha! another nice hipster-esque picture of a place. Beautiful, yes. Unique, no. But highly recommended in its own category: beautiful, more beautiful, most beautiful. Trendy coffee (in all shapes, sizes and colors), rice waffles and... toast as it pleases you. They also have matcha cake and of course avocado on everything.
Or even a little something tasty for it vegans to score in Lisbon? Does Lee Towers have glasses? Of course. And My Mother's Daughters is by far your best bet. Not only is the little shop cozy and pretty, the plant based dishes are beautifully prepared on the most beautiful plates and in the most beautiful (Portuguese) bowls in front of you. You can go there from breakfast until 17 p.m.
Cake? Tease. Bakery Tease. The atmosphere is Portuguese, the menu (with lots of cake but you can also have a good breakfast there) is international. Moreover, the price-quality ratio is absolutely good: large pieces, small prices. What's even better is that the place is not overcrowded with tourists like... Copenhagen

Looking for a place to have brunch? Here you go. The menu is full of delicious dishes, the atmosphere is cozy and the staff more than friendly. In a cute typical Portuguese building. Recommended!
