Here it comes: Nature hotel Forsthofgut in Austria is a pearl. One that both ski fanatics and people from the other camp can agree on during the winter sports months for the simple reason that there is more than enough to do for both camps: the nature hotel (more about that in a moment) is located in the beautiful forests at the foot of the Leoganger Steinberge, right next to the gondola lift: 250 km of slopes right on your doorstep. That's one.

 

Second (or one, depending on which camp you are in) comes the hotel itself: top cuisine, luxury, a more than extensive and wonderful spa (with a view of the snow-capped mountain peaks), an (aging) picture to see and yet Well, nice. As the Austrians do it best.

There are spacious rooms and apartments (the latter ideal for kids; there is also a children's sauna, that's a matter) and the kitchen serves delicious local dishes.

Part of the reason for all this jubilation is because of the family run hotel that is Hotel Forsthofgut, in the middle of nature. A family hotel that is run with love, which is only possible at a decent hotel because it requires years of care and choices, choices discussed at the Christmas dinner. And then there is love that you can feel. The subject family is the Schmuck family and the Schmuck family also thinks it is only logical that the hotel is run as a sustainable hotel.

As early as 1960, Rosmarie and Rupert Schmuck laid the foundation stone for Hotel Forsthofgut with two guest rooms. Today, son Christoph runs the hotel together with his partner Christina. Over the years, the family has renovated the holiday resort with care, taste and, above all, with a lot of attention to the environment, which is reflected in everything: the use of sustainable wood, the views of the forests and mountains, and the natural materials used everywhere.

The kitchen is also not bad: senior chefs Rosmarie and Rupert Schmuck, fathers and mothers indeed, work every day with ingredients from the area where possible. Rosmarie is happy to serve you her homemade marmalades and when there is no snow, the garden around the hotel is a sea of ​​flowers. Rupert accompanies guests on walks, ski tours and mountain bike tours.
