Natural wine in Paris: these are the places you have to visit

Paris was a little behind in terms of natural wine. The French are a bit more fond of 'their' traditional wines (just like part of the Barts Boekje team, by the way...) but in the meantime they are catching up considerably. Are you the natural wine team? Then save these places for your next Paris trip and be assured Vin (super) natural.

Amagat; when you have something to celebrate

Amagat; when you have something to celebrate

Before you read further; First check whether you can still book a table because this new hotspot in Paris is popular. Booked? Then you are in for a huge treat.
It's a bit out of the way (unless you want to visit the famous cemetery of Jim Morrison, among others, not our tip, but there are people who do so voluntarily) but believe us; it's worth the travel.
When you walk into an alley and think; is it here? Then you're in the right place. Just turn the corner and you're there Amagat. There is one there in the summer picture-perfect terrace is waiting for you, but you can also sit inside.
They serve Mediterranean dishes here, but exciting. Recognizable and yet surprising. Should they still have Aubergine skewers on the menu? You shouldn't skip it! You can choose from the varying 'vin du jour' by the glass. Available in white/orange/rose & red or you can be tempted by one of the many available natural wines by the bottle. Granted; It does cost a bit here, but it is more than worth it.

Bar Principal; for the afternoon snack

Bar Principal; for the afternoon snack

You will find it on a quiet square, bordering a small green park with a playground(!). Bar Principal. It is always pleasantly busy, but you can always join us, sometimes after a short wait. Outside you sit on low stools, kind of Cafe Twee Prinsen vibes, inside on high stools at a long bar where you have a good view of the showcases full of different bottles of natural wine.
Here again you have one type of wine of all colors available by the glass, but if you go for a bottle then get ready; With such a long list and a lot of information from the staff, it becomes difficult to choose. Pet-nat, orange, deep pink or even yellow; Natural wine comes in all shapes and sizes here.
You don't really eat out here, but there is an excellent snack menu. Think of fried broccoli with sriracha mayonnaise or ripe comté with freshly sliced ham and good olive oil. Perfect for the later afternoon hours.

Lolo Cave a manger

Lolo Cave a manger

A wine bar like this just makes us very happy Lolo Cave at Manger. Why? Because everything is just right. The decor, natural wines and chefs who turn cooking into art. Slide with your friends or you data and you are guaranteed a wonderful evening.

Buvette

Buvette

Once you arrive in the Pigalle district you will want to go to this super little restaurant called Buvette, especially if you like typical French food to share. The dark and small restaurant operates on a first-come, first-served basis (they also take some reservations, just not for all tables). Are there no more tables available? Then try again the next day; new rounds new opportunities.

Buvette

Bambino; for vinyl beats and sharing plates

Bambino; for vinyl beats and sharing plates

When we heard that there was a place in Paris where the men of Corner Store had gotten their inspiration from, we had to take a look. Kids.
Once inside, it is difficult to find similarities at first glance. Yes, there are a lot of vinyl records and good funky beats, and yes, there is only natural wine available, but don't expect a big bright place with light tables and cool light art on the ceiling. It is quite the opposite here; a small, dark but very cozy 'café' with high tables and stools and a bar (behind which the recognizable and signature vinyl DJ plays his records).
In terms of menu it is a bit more similar; small(er) dishes that are easy to share, which are mainly prepared on the open fire (or in the brick oven) with an extra focus on vegetables.
Slightly more natural wine available by the glass here, but for orange you still have to make do with one option of the day. On the other hand, the wine list here is again extensive and, we were told by the table next to us, that the Negronis here are 'the best in Paris. Do what you want with it.

September La Cave; for when the weather is nice

September La Cave; for when the weather is nice

We just get straight to the point; only go here when the weather is nice. Septime la Cave is also very popular among the local Parisians and with a little cramming they can only accommodate ten people. When the weather is nice, on the other hand, everyone simply moves to the street. You don't have to look far, because that place where everyone is standing outside with a glass or bottle of wine in their hand, that's where you need to be.
Walk in and let the knowledgeable (mainly) women behind the bar tell you which wine best suits your taste and mood and they are guaranteed to come up with the best option. After the preliminary tasting, you then leave with your loot to drink your glass or bottle. There is no 'official' terrace, so here you drink standing, hanging or sitting on the sidewalk, but it is so cozy and before you know it you are ready for a refill.
Although this wine is 'cave' by the master chefs behind Septime, there is no food or snack available here. Ideal before you have an extensive dinner or just to enjoy the late summer evening.

Le Chardon; both for lunch and dinner

Le Chardon; both for lunch and dinner

A bottle of natural wine with lunch can do absolutely no harm, especially when the mercury hovers around 30 degrees. You can go to this 'hidden gem' for lunch and dinner seven days a week (also nice that you don't have to look for opening days — which, let's be honest, are not always up to date everywhere in France) . Just keep that in mind Thistle are closed between 14:30 PM and 19:00 PM to catch your breath.
Here the wines are often available by the glass, carafe and bottle. So you can find the right size for every type of drinker or every composition. In addition, the dishes are not only very varied and tasty, but also photogenic and good for sharing. From a traditional Basque Country sausage, with the tastiest mashed potatoes ever eaten, to a fresh sea bass ceviche. If you don't find anything here that you like, then you really don't belong on this website, sorry, but that's the way it is.
Also a nice bonus; you can make a reservation here, so if you want to be sure of a table with good natural wine; book Le Chardon.

Les Enfants Sauvages; for your last glass before your journey back

Les Enfants Sauvages; for your last glass before your journey back

Do you, like us, always try to get the most out of your trip to Paris? Then you have probably booked the Thalys at 19:25 PM, exactly the last train back.
This place is the perfect spot for a last shot of Vin Naturel and a tasty bite so that you can board that train feeling really satisfied.
This natural wine & 'tapas' bar is located a 15-minute walk from Gare Du Nord: Les Enfants Sauvages. They call it a tapas bar, but that puts themselves in a category where we would not easily place them. Think of it more as a bistro/wine bar with small dishes, but certainly no tapas (that reminds us of prawns in aioli or calamari). The nice thing is, this shop is run by a bunch of friends, with familiar faces coming by all evening to say hello and linger. And as a stranger you are received just as warmly and you feel it inside no time whether you belong. This good atmosphere may be due to the fact that the two adjacent catering establishments (wine shop Les Enfants Gates & bistro Les Enfants Perdue) have been in this street for years and have built up a list of friends in recent years.
Open from 17:00 PM, so plenty of time to eat and drink before heading to the Thalys.

Citron et Huitres

Citron et Huitres

The name says it all (for those of us who can speak a little French): time for oysters! If anything is a golden combination, it is wine and oysters. Citron et Huitres is located next to Hotel Rochechouart, a wonderful place to enjoy an oyster after a long day of exploring before the evening begins. We say for sure Yes in return for.
