Mamma Mia: the tastiest pizzas can be found at Nena, Venlo (Limburg)
Fairly new in-town (and we are talking about Venlo in Limburg), but already very popular. This accessible, very cozy and delicious restaurant that makes the city just that little bit nicer – and above all tastier. Located on the edge of the center, yet central. Hello Nena! Hello Nena pizza in Venlo, Limburg.
Nena stands for 'Dutch Neapolitan' (aha). Quality, attention, simplicity and craftsmanship: that's what it's all about. Fascinated and inspired by the Neapolitan pizza, the – otherwise very friendly – owner and chef opened this restaurant. The small but oh-so-nice restaurant started as a pick-up point during the corona times. In a place without a house number, you sat - next to the olive trees - waiting in a courtyard in the dugout (you know, one of those football things). The pizzas were freshly prepared for you and were quickly delivered to you through the open window. A formula for success, as it turned out. A few months later the restaurant opened, but the open window concept disappeared dugout stayed and was turned into a handsome bar. The interior is cozy and simple, as you would expect from an accessible and (in the good sense of the word) living room restaurant. Not too difficult, especially casual with long wooden tables, barrels for chairs and - something that is often lacking in Italy, but still a must in our opinion - atmospheric light.
Now about the pizzas, because oh boy are they good: fluffy dough, flavorful ingredients and exactly what you hope to taste when you take a bite of your pizza. So many taste sensations. You can just taste the quality. From the buffalo mozzarella that is made in Italy on Tuesdays and in Italy on Thursdays Ventjeloco (that's Venlo, for the connoisseurs among us) arrives, down to the fresh truffle: everything is good here. Nena has a small changing menu – nice and clear – and you can't really make a wrong choice here. Excellent stone oven pizzas are the main focus here, but don't forget to have a starter (or a starter). share). Feel free to choose the Sicilian green olives with lemon and oregano or the prosciutto di Parma, which are delicious. We can elaborate further, but you just have to try it. Gotta love it all. Little tip: make sure you save room for dessert (homemade tiramisu) because it is delicious. Real.
Conclusion? Order a pizza, drink a Peroni with it (or a festive glass of prosecco, which also combines incredibly well, we have been told) and enjoy. Just wait, pizza time. Here at Nena.
