Pillows Grand Hotel Reylof in Ghent
The hotel is located in a monumental building a stone's throw from the historic center. In collaboration with interior architect Lot Sturm, the mansion from 1724 was renovated into a 'classic, yet modern and with a vintage twist', boutique hotel. This building was once the home of Baron Olivier Reylof (yes, hence the name), this man did well with a place like this. Upon entering you will be welcomed by a Pillows host who will explain everything about the hotel. They do not have a reception (because it is less personal) but instead you are welcomed the Living with a glass of bubbles or a cocktail.
You check in while sipping champagne, no hassle and relaxed. The interior, as in all Pillows Hotels, is all design and photogenic. Next to the Living (where you can enjoy a snack and a drink all day long) you will find eight impressive meeting rooms, all equally beautiful. To get to the rooms, you walk through the garden and pass the SPA, with sauna, hammam and fitness room. The 157 rooms have soft carpeting, even softer beds and... walk-ins rain showers. You could almost forget that you are in beautiful Ghent and just stay inside.

Next to the Living, you can go to the Espresso & Wine Bar all day long for a coffee to go or a good glass of wine (oh) but if you want to dine more extensively then you should go to Restaurant LOF. The interior looks just as impressive as the rest of the hotel and this is also the place where you should be in the morning for the extensive and fresh breakfast buffet.
The LOF menu has been put together by chef Hannes Vandebotermet and star chef Ron Blaauw. Small dishes to share, such as spare ribs with homemade sambal, burrata with strawberries and a 'cheesecake' of scallop and zucchini. And to top it all off, the dessert 'Ron's Ice Cream Dream'; a bucket full of fresh whipped ice cream and various toppings such as mini brownies, raspberries and fudge. So create your own ice cream on the spot. And you should order this dessert just for the spectacle, because the bucket also contains dry ice, which gives off smoke. You can hardly get more fun (and tastier!)
