Portugal oh Portugal, we love your culture, your beautiful beaches and houses, but above all: the delicious food. Restaurant is at the top of the list ARCA Amsterdam. Portuguese chef Henrique Sá Pessoa, awarded two Michelin stars, brings a 'contemporary and accessible' Portuguese concept to Amsterdam at ARCA. The cuisine is Portuguese, with a touch of Asian influences. The common thread in the menu? The best that Portugal has to offer: simple as that. And then of course with petiscos plates – so-called Portuguese tapas – of which Gambas Ao Alhino is our favorite. There are also larger dishes (if you are less into sharing), which you can enjoy on your own. In addition to the food, there are also delicious cocktails, perfect for your tapas. The restaurant is open from Tuesday to Saturday from 18.00:22.00 PM to 11.00:00.00 PM and the bar is open seven days a week from 01.00:XNUMX AM to XNUMX:XNUMX AM (plus: there is live music at the weekend. And on Fridays and Saturdays it goes an hour longer. until XNUMX)
One day, father and daughter, who grew up in Portugal and have African roots, decided to move to Amsterdam to share their years of cooking experience. This is the beautiful story of how the very nice restaurant Franggo has arisen. The specialty? Authentic Portuguese Flame Grilled Chicken with African influences. And Franggo's goal is to serve the very best chicken for a good price, which makes everyone happy. Franggo is now located at (almost) three locations, they were already in De Pijp and West and now they are adding East. They are open every day of the week. Come and have something to eat in the restaurant (you'll have a cozy seat here) or order at home on the couch, it's all possible.
The menu is French with 'Portuguese influences', but we really like it on this list (after all, the chef's mother is completely Portuguese). Hidden on the - not really popular - Purmerplein in Noord, there is a restaurant Glaze. The place on the square in Noord to sit and enjoy (and believe us, after one bite, you will want to come back here more often). You choose what you want to eat yourself; you can choose a menu of three or four small dishes. Or if you don't feel like sharing (that's allowed), you can simply order your favorite dish in bulk. A glass of good wine is nothing too much to ask and that also applies to a specialty beer. During the day you can go there for a cup of coffee with a piece of cake or a sandwich.
Not a big fan of obvious puns, but when everything is so sweet and fun and delicious as in Portugália Tasca, a real Portuguese family restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam, then it is allowed. Here, Mother Amelia runs the kitchen, Father Antonio manages the drinks and son Henrique is your host – fun even before you get inside, isn't it? It is truly Portuguese here: not only do the authentic dishes taste like a holiday, the whole atmosphere is as if you are sitting in the Portuguese sun.
Why go? Because, as mentioned, the dishes are truly Portuguese. A cuisine that is not very well known, but so (so) delicious. Taste a little, educate yourself a bit, taste some more and you're bound to have a great evening.
Big fan of the beloved Portuguese delicacy Custard Tart? At least we do. And that's why Mister Nata on the Van Woustraat is certainly not missing from this list. Because all the way The delicious pastels you can get there come from Portugal. And they are delicious, one bite and you'll be back in Lisbon or wherever you want to be in Portugal. Suppose you are not a fan of Pastel de Nata (imagine that), then there is plenty of choice of Portuguese pastries that are baked in house. The service is not unimportant, they are happy to answer all your questions and are happy to help you make a choice between all the goodies (because choosing is difficult).
