The best ski restaurants in Switzerland
Ski season is approaching (or has already begun for some), and we're finding it quite challenging to find a tasty, yet enjoyable place to grab a bite to eat between all that winter sports. One place is attractive but not delicious, another looks awful but has good food. We want places that offer both, and Switzerland is the place to be. There's no shortage of great ski restaurants in the high mountains with the most stunning views.

Gstaad, one of the most expensive and prestigious locations in Switzerland, deserves delicious and stylish dining. And where better to enjoy a mountaintop meal with stunning views than Restaurant Wasserngrat in Gstaad? Something special to celebrate? You'll want to do it here, because Wasserngrat excels at hosting the most beautiful weddings, with stunning views at an altitude of 1920 meters.
TikTok is full of them, so maybe you're already familiar with Chez Vrony, if not? Then we'll tell you why TikTok is right... Chez Vrony is located in Zermatt on the mountain (right on the ski slope route, tip!). It's not a fancy restaurant with ties and polished cutlery, but it is a mountain hut icon with stunning views of the Matterhorn massif, wooden beams, blankets, a generous dose of coziness, and dishes that are perfect for a day in the snow. Think traditional Alpine fare, local produce, and dishes that will give you energy (and make you want to take photos). Of course, the sunny terrace is also just too wonderful.
Cabanes des Violettes isn't easy to reach; it requires some effort, but those who do make the effort are rewarded with incredible views. High in the Swiss mountains, above Thyon, this mountain hut is situated in a spot where the view is impressive and the hustle and bustle feels far away. Definitely not a quick pit stop, but a destination in itself. A classic alpine hut, without excessive frills, but with plenty of wood. Short on time? Then you'd better skip this one.
A post-ski drink while you snuggle up in the sheepskin rugs, then stroll on to St. Moritz's best après-ski: Paradiso Mountain Club & Restaurant. During the day, Paradiso is a sunny respite where you can settle in with a glass of bubbly and something warm on your plate. Linger a little too long (do it!) and you'll notice the pace pick up. The music kicks in, chairs slide aside, and before you know it, you're dancing on the table in your ski boots. Paradiso isn't your classic après-ski with a polonaise, but a St. Moritz version: more international, more stylish, and with slightly better playlists.

Simply superb, both winter and summer. High in Val d'Anniviers, nestled between the slopes and hiking trails, Chez Dany enjoys a wonderfully sunny location. Be sure to stop here for the view, but also for the food. Inside, it's pleasantly bustling, and outside you have a front-row seat. Classic mountain dishes are served: cheese, pasta, rösti, and a good glass of wine. Nothing fancy, just perfect after a morning outdoors.
A little less laid-back, more chic at Langosteria in St. Moritz. No mountain hut vibe here, but stylish Italian flair. Langosteria is all about modern Italian cuisine at its finest, featuring fresh pasta, seafood, risottos, and a wine list to complement every dish. The elegant interior adds to this.
In the Jungfrau Region, you actually have two options for lunch on the slopes, and both are just right. Berghaus MännlichenAt 2225 meters and accessible by gondola or cable car, is the classic mountain hut: a good rösti with cheese on the sun terrace, a glass of Valais wine, and a view showing the triangle of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau on one side and the Lauterbrunnen Valley towards Interlaken on the other. No frills, just uncomplicated goodness. For a bit more life, choose Barry's Restaurant At the Eiger Mountain & Soul Resort, you'll find authentic coziness without being old-fashioned, with a menu full of cheese fondue, crispy rösti, juicy burgers, and the famous Eiger Rock: a tender sirloin steak on the hot stone. Finish with a Swiss chocolate fondue and you've had the perfect ski lunch, no matter how you look at it.
At an altitude of 2000 meters, on the sunny side of the Jakobshorn in Davos, sits Fuxägufer, and this is no ordinary mountain hut. Seven minutes by chairlift from the valley and you stand in front of a chalet filled with sheepskins, sunbeds on the terrace, and a large rösti pan where sausages, entrecôte, and other delicacies are cooked on sunny days. Alongside Graubünden classics, they also prepare Asian wok dishes here that don't really belong, but fit in perfectly nonetheless.
