Playing at Beelen: the new kids' paradise in Rotterdam South

Not sure what to do with the kids anymore? We have good news. On July 21, we opened Playing at Beelen in Rotterdam South, Rotterdam has gained a day trip destination it deserves. Entrepreneur Wim Beelen purchased the site from a bankruptcy auction in April 2026 and is taking a completely different approach. No crowded attractions or flashing lights, but a low-stimulus play environment where children aged 0 to 12 are entertained all day long. With more than twenty activities spread throughout the park, the kids won't be bored for a single second.

The park features more than twenty activities spread across multiple zones. From the large sandbox and slides to the roller skating rink, trampolines, and a water fountain for warm days. In Harvey's Traffic City, children practice basic traffic rules safely, and Gigi's Climbing World invites you to climb and clamber together. The real eye-catcher? The Beelen Eye, the Ferris wheel that offers a beautiful view of the Rotterdam harbors.

Miniworld Rotterdam

Miniworld Rotterdam

A special addition: Miniworld Rotterdam is now part of Spelen bij Beelen. Spread over more than 650 square meters, you can discover Dutch landscapes, Rotterdam in miniature, and the largest indoor miniature port in Europe. Every 24 minutes, day turns to night, thousands of lights switch on, and trains, ships, and trucks come to life. Honestly, just as much fun for the parents as for the kids.

No frying smell, but tasty

No frying smell, but tasty

No deep-fried smell or bags of chips as the only option. At Spelen bij Beelen, many products come directly from their own organic farm, Eten bij Beelen: fresh rolls, vegetables, juices, and healthy snacks. Prices have been kept affordable, because a day out with kids costs enough as it is. And for those who really want an ice cream after all that climbing and scrambling: that is perfectly possible too.
