Support local entrepreneurs: the tastiest initiatives per region
You probably already have our extensive list of restaurants that deliver to your home stuck to your refrigerator for a long time. And of course you won't hoard, but you will visit your favorite places and things you have always wanted to try. Give yourself and your friends a voucher from those same restaurants so that they can keep their heads above water in the near future. The rest of the time? Then you treat yourself, because you are worth it too. With goodies from the best local suppliers of course. Because there are lots of great initiatives on it, and these are the ones to watch.
It is clear that the catering industry is in decline, but less visible is the drama for local producers who depend on the catering industry for a large part of their sales. With shopping packages put together by local entrepreneurs, you can enjoy these products at home. And in this way you support the local entrepreneur so that you can still enjoy it when everything is back to normal.
That's possible Support Your Locals for example. The Dutch Initiative to support local entrepreneurs in any way possible. And those ways are (as we like to see it) going through the roof. One city after another showed up to participate in the initiative (hurray for that alone) and the Dutch are doing their utmost to support the entrepreneur (another hurray). As of today, all these initiatives, from food box to farm shop, are available on the website Support Your Locals to find. And all this in collaboration with the Taskforce Short Chain expanding the initiative to a national campaign in which local producers play the leading role. For a shorter food chain, which directly leads to tastier, fresher and better food.
Amsterdam was the first Dutch city, the birthplace of Support Your Locals. What the people of Amsterdam did not know at the time is that many more cities followed... You can read all about them here:
Amsterdam – Rescued vegetables from Instock, the tastiest bread from Bakkerij Mama (in Halfweg), the tastiest sausages from Brandt & Levie and the one and only Amsterdam milkman MOMA supplies dairy from the Groene Griffioen. Haarlem The Butcher's Daughter, The Cheese Campaign, VIZ Market, Boulangerie Oscar, Mabrouk and – as they say – a bit of the cozy coffee bar Mogador. For €49,50 you can order a chock-full package of local goodies, which will also be delivered to your home on Tuesday or Friday. All you have to do is send an email to orders@supportlocalshaarlem.nl.
Heemstede – the Taste of Heemstede is a surprise every week. A new box is delivered every time Butchery Vreeburg, Keurslager Peter van der Geest, Boulangerie Oscar, Trattoria De Pasta Box, Alexanderhoeve cheese, Grape district, Brantjes Wine, Menno Vreeburg Catering and 'good neighbor' De Kroon Horecavers composed from Haarlem. Then you can safely assume that it will contain cheese, wine and Italian specialties from Heemstede for a total of €50! To pre-order the latest box you can you can knock here.

THUIS 072 also collects all kinds of initiatives from local catering establishments during corona times. Takeaway, delivery, new meal boxes: everything can easily be found on HOME 072. A whole lot of North Holland glory to find local entrepreneurs in (and around) Alkmaar under one web page.
Rotterdam this is a good one! Here it comes: bread, milk, fresh eggs, granola, cheese, ground coffee, deliciously brewed beers, nuts, soy sauce, soup, smoked sausage, sausage rolls, fresh fruit such as oranges and, finally, the necessary vegetables: potatoes and carrots. We told you, this will go a long way! The shopping boxes order here and they cost €42,50 (excl. delivery) but then you really have a well-stocked package.
To lead - Cheese, beer, nuts, sandwiches (and did we spot a toilet roll there too?) In Leiden they know about local products. In the box you will find products from Pronck (not to be missed), De Loneliness farm, Lakenvelder farm Boterhuispolder, Kwakernaak farm, Ptthee, Olmenhorst and Sweylanthoeve. Delft – also the Delft box is not just a package put together. Well, you can choose from several variants. These special packages contain local products from Neef Rob, From the backyard and from Bakker Jaap, for example. Too nice, right? You'll have it soon ordered here.
The Hague - The Hague treasures collected together and all hidden in one package. It is even called the Hague treasure survival package. Then it has to be one that you can get through for a while, so order and stay indoors. Small effort.
Twente – downright oet' twente a best box full of goodies. Pork roulade, forgotten vegetables and peanut brittle: a selection of all Twente delicacies. Every week they come up with a surprising box so that you want to order it again and again. That's okay, you can do here!
Deventer – yes hello Deventer! They also thought they would come with packages from the east. Nice work everyone. Eindhoven - Eindhoven the craziest? Not at all! Here they come with a box filled with Dry Sausage, a piece of Grilled Sausage and Meatballs made by Ad Reinders with meat from Heyde Hoeve, fresh vegetables (iceberg lettuce, onions, leek, chestnut mushrooms, oranges, apples and pears) from Heeren Vegetables and Fruit. Freshly baked bread from Godfried de Vocht. The (real) Brabant sausage rolls from Houben sausage bread, cheese from De Ruurhoeve and to top it off, a €5 voucher from the restaurant The 3 Brothers. Meijerijstad – Local food producers have also united in Meijerijstad in Brabant and are coming up with the tastiest bread from the bakery Bakkerij van Leur, fresh fruit & vegetables from the greengrocer in Asseldonk, specialties from the caterer Plank Noordkade , artisanal meats from the butcher's shop Slagerij Pennings , freshly roasted coffee from Noord , cupcakes from Taarten van Tante Jans , delicious chocolate from Rudolf Vermeulen, and fresh cheese from cheesemaker Siebeskaas. Tilburg – hello there Tilburgers! Have you already seen that various packages, put together by Tilburg entrepreneurs, are ready for you to order? Yes, this one for example with fresh asparagus, nuts, cheeses and more.
Zeeland Flanders – Would you like to enjoy delicious fresh Zeeland-Flemish food and support local producers at the same time? Then order here a package packed full of fruit and vegetables from local farmers and other delicacies from locals such as Appelaere, Cheese farm De Vos, Chocolaterie Maurits, Confectionery De Grens, Working in the greenhouse, and others. Utrecht support in the tastiest way because the Utrecht package consists of delicious things such as fresh fruit from the local orchard, sausage, fresh bread, coffee, jam and more. Lelystad – farmers from Lelystad put their heads together and decided to deliver their products directly to people. The products are both loose order as in composite packages. We could call it a kind of online farmers' market.
Almere – how nice is this! In Almere, the local entrepreneur does not put together a package for you, but you put it together yourself. Plenty of choice and you can be sure that everything in the package is used. Smart! Just order!
Nijmegen – nicest in it Nijmegen package? All ingredients of Landwinkel de Woerdt to make a delicious apple pie. Because baking is of course one of the best indoor activities. Plus, it contains many more treats to fill some time and your belly.
Ede – homeworkers in the building? A package to start working at home with the right energy. Of course it contains coffee and fruit for vitamins. But that's not all. Order you do here.
Lindenhoff – The Marché of the very best people of Lindenhoff is open as usual. Of course you only go there for your shopping and if there is no cough bothering you, but if that is the case, support then especially your farmers and go to Baambrugge for some fresh air and some groceries at the Lindenhoff Marché. Of course everything is pushed over the counter in an appropriate manner.
