Casa Zala in Guatamala is a beautiful place. A very beautiful place. Think: thatched roofs, hammocks, and a pool overlooking the ocean. Lapoint is one of the larger surf camp chains and has a Scandinavian touch – and that is reflected. Don't expect a standard surf camp here, but stays that are begging to be put on Instagram, top-quality surf coaching, yoga rooms that are out of this world. Long story short: an experience with that little bit extra. You do pay for that, but if you go for quality and comfort, Lapoint is definitely the right choice.
Miramar Surf Camp is located near a quiet fishing village in the north of Nicaragua and is known for its consistent and perfect waves. The rooms are a bit spartan, but the view from the pool more than makes up for it. Besides surfing, you can climb the Telíca volcano, an active giant that still smokes and rumbles. You can reach the crater in less than two hours, and the view is more than worth it. And while you're at it, hike to the hidden freshwater lagoon Laguna Del Tigre at the foot of the Momotombo volcano. Plenty to do.
