Tenerife Travel Guide: the most beautiful beaches

If you're still in doubt, let me be clear: Tenerife is, in our opinion, the ultimate winter destination with a difference. Here you can read about the best food and the best restaurants on the Spanish island (get ready!) and the most beautiful and finest hotels (plenty of choice). You can read what you can do when you are not into sitting still (We get it – so much to see and do!) And in the article below, we'll list the most beautiful beaches for you. You're welcome again.

Playa del Duque

Playa del Duque

Playa del Duque is a popular beach and actually our favorite, because on the southwest side + almost in the middle of the island = sunset and always close by! Although the love also comes from the fact that the beach is surrounded by all the nice things in life: there are private sunbeds, nice restaurants and you can snorkel there. There is a small shopping center (full of luxury brands) and you can park in front of the door (great with kids). It is also highly recommended to choose your hotel nearby: then, as mentioned, you are quite central and on the right side of the island. Moreover, the resorts in Costa Adeje, where Playa del Duque is located, are almost all top notch and most have panoramic restaurants with sea views. Count your winnings.

Abama Beach

Abama Beach

Abama Beach is a small sandy beach in the south of Tenerife, between Playa San Juan and Marazul. It is well known that the south of Tenerife has many of the most beautiful beaches on the island and Abama is one of the better options. The water is calm thanks to a breakwater. We think it's nice. There are cliffs surrounding the beach and it is a popular spot for the most beautiful sunsets over the neighboring island of La Gomera.

Food and drinks? Absolutely! The Beach Club restaurant on the beach is part of the Abama Resort Tenerife, one of the island's most renowned hotels. So, you can definitely stop by the beach bar for some truly delicious food. You can park at the hotel and then walk down in about ten minutes.

Playa Jardín

Playa Jardín

In one of our other articles about Tenerife we rave about the north of the island and recommend that you go to the towns Puerto de la Cruz (Hello street art. and great swimming pools) and the beautiful, authentic village La Orotava to go.

On to Puerto de la Cruz for Play Jardin. This black sand beach, surrounded by tropical gardens designed by Canarian artist César Manrique, is unlike any other. A scenic drive takes you through these flower gardens, palm trees, and narrow paths to reach the beach.

The beach is divided into: Playa del Castillo, Charcón (or Playa Chica), and Punta Brava. These are connected, but it's wise to know where you're going. The first beach has calmer waters, while the third is more exposed to the wind. This makes it ideal for surfing.

Speaking of impressive beaches… La Tejita in the south of Tenerife is also one of them. The beach is quiet, secluded and covered in red volcanic rock, making it quite unique and photogenic (in Tenerife there are sandy beaches everywhere, both white and black, but the red volcanic rock remains special).

La Tejita is located right next to itt Montaña Roja nature reserve and the view alone makes it one of the most beautiful beaches in Tenerife. The mountain also gives the beach some privacy, which is nice. There are a number of simple catering establishments, which are absolutely fine. Don't be alarmed: because there is so much privacy, the beach is often used by nudists

Surf beaches

Sun, sea, and wind: Tenerife has everything you need for a good surf session. And it's there all year round. The island boasts surf spots along almost the entire coast, but in the north, you'll often find more powerful waves and volcanic black beaches, while the south is more accessible for beginners. Here are a few spots to keep in mind.

La Izquierda, Playa de las Américas: The island's most famous surf spot. Fast, powerful waves attract experienced surfers. The spot is known for the famous "Spanish Left," one of the best left-hand waves in Europe.

La Fitenia, Los Cristianos: The waves here are often smaller and therefore suitable for intermediate surfers.

Punta del Hidalgo: On the rugged northern side of the island, near the Anaga Mountains, lies Punta del Hidalgo. This area is less touristy and therefore popular with locals. Spots like El Roquete, La Bajeta, and Los Dos Hermanos offer strong waves and excellent conditions for surfers and bodyboarders.
