Brand new Greek highlight: The Royal Senses Hotel Crete (Panormo, in the north and center of Crete)
This brand new Greek top hotel had been open for just three days when we checked in: The Royal Senses Hotel on the Greek island Crete. The largest island of the entire (countless) Greek bunch and the largest was also our stay at The Royal Senses. What a wonderful spot! Where to start... As always, at the beginning: whoever books, can immediately expect (at least we can) all the help you can think of. Do you want a transfer? Consider it done. Request numbers regarding your room? It's already arranged. Other questions? You call, The Royal Senses Hotel in Crete is running.
And then the party can begin: the resort is brand new and it is wonderful to walk through such an untouched paradise. Paradise. Yes. A sleek and spacious paradise to be precise. The hotel is made up of sleek blocks, straight lines and the occasional palm tree, decorated with beautiful, warm-toned art, bright blue colors everywhere, both in the water and the sky above the hotel and in the expansive and unmissable swimming pool. As if you were walking through the architect's drawing. That's not unpleasant, by the way! Well no. The good-natured staff will take care of that. Look, and that's how you recognize a good hotel: if the staff like their work, and therefore have an (apparently) nice employer, and have a good time with each other, then that reflects on the guests. Really, just pay attention. So much for that 'unmentionable': on to what can be explained.
Like the hotel rooms. There are about 180 of them and each of them has been decorated with a lot of love and sand and brown tones: holidayvibes from the books. If possible, try to book one of the highest rooms: they all have a small private pool and that is so wonderful. By the way, you don't have to climb: there is a lift, ski lift style, all the way up. That mini swimming pool also overlooks the sea just a little further away and, after all, we are on the north side of Crete, on a stunning sunset. Although, for the record, you have both (views) from every room. The entire hotel is built in such a way that you don't have to miss any of the best of Crete: view check, water (both that of the pool and the sea five minutes away) check and delicious food check. It The Royal Senses Hotel Crete has four restaurants: a buffet-style restaurant (that's where you will certainly spend most of your time, as this is a nice place to sit down in the evenings and the place where the very extensive breakfast is ready for everyone in the morning), and a lunch restaurant (we'll come back to that in a moment), a pool bar (ditto) and a a la carte restaurant. The latter is a must: reserve at least one evening and enjoy the tastiest (most authentic) of Greece, including live music.
Back to the lunch restaurant: we thought it was the highlight of the hotel. A beach style restaurant has been set up at the far end of the hotel where you can actually order exactly that Greek beach style menu that you want at every beach bar. From the always good club sandwich to a whole plate of falafel in an original way. Ten points. The same menu is also served in the pool bar. And you can also order on your sunbed... Well, 'sunbed', that really does not do justice to the sunbeds at The Royal Senses Hotel Crete: rarely - no, never - have we seen such thick and fantastic sunbeds. They are at least thirty centimeters thick and they lie deliciously. Handsome boy who knows how to hit it.
If you do that anyway, carry yourself away from the pool (proudly), then go to the small (private) beach that you more or less on your doorstep (note: walking is really too far in the Greek heat, we thought, but fortunately there is a shuttle service where you can any time you can ask for). That beach is located in front of the sister hotel of The Royal Senses Hotel – The Royal Blue Resort. Also a big tip, we think (it was still closed when we were there). In any case, the beach is a dream spot and again the unparalleled service on the beach.
Would you like to bring kids along? Don't be fooled by the beautiful photos: The Royal Senses Hotel is mega kid-proof! There is even a really fun children's water paradise on different levels. Literally and figuratively: the water fun is built against a hill and there is a section for the little ones (hello paddling pool, colorful things and mini slide) and for the bigger daredevils (with an exciting slide and fountain). And if you want a babysitter, that can also be arranged with a phone call: the kids club is great fun during the day and is a jack of all trades, and there is also a babysitter ready to help you in the evenings.
