Tuur Maastricht: the perfect starting point for a pleasant evening

When is a restaurant a typical "Bartje" and when not? To answer this, we could write something about warm hospitality, a cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and fine wines. But let me paint a different picture: a typical Bartje is a place where you can eat something so delicious you'd stand in line for it (like those TikTok queues in Amsterdam), but without the line and with good service and a pleasant atmosphere. A place where space is made for you, and if there's no room, the wait is made as pleasant as possible. Welcome to restaurant Ture in Maastricht.

It's not that we TureWe know the owner of the business personally, but he's certainly headstrong – we dare say. His walk-in restaurant is located in the popular Wyck neighborhood, but in a unique spot. Not on the popular Wycker Brugstraat, not on the Percée, not on Rechtstraat, and certainly not on the Oeverwal or Cörversplein. Ture You'll find it at the foot of the Wilhelmina Bridge, a bit off the beaten track. Back when there was a large cinema on the other side, this was where the Cinema Café was located, where you could grab a bite to eat before going to the movies. Now Tuur, Restaurant Tuur, a destination in its own right and we understand why.

As we said: it's a walk-in restaurant and reservations are not accepted. That can quickly make you panic if you're from the Randstad, but at Ture They always make sure you have a table, and if not, you can wait at the cozy bar and watch the meat being cut. And the wait is worth it thanks to the delicious menu. We kicked off our aperitif with Ortiz sardines à la Ture and mussels All'Arrabbiata, which we shared. Sharing is, well, a given here, thanks to the relaxed atmosphere that hangs warm and soft in the air. We also had oysters (to share) and the bavette (each for his own), but the real treat of the evening was the langoustine tartare. It was so delicious that you almost don't want to share it and, well, you're willing to stand in line for it. Fortunately, that's not necessary at Ture, and they always find a spot.
