Villa Gallici, Aix-en-Provence, France
The hotel with restaurant Villa Gallici not only does it look regal in terms of furnishings, you are also treated that way. It is romantic and elegant in a way that Americans in particular find very romantic and elegant, and which they think is French through and through. Eh... Not entirely agree of course, and in my opinion the real charm of France can be found elsewhere, but it is true that you can enjoy lunch there under the parasols: the food is fantastic, the wines even better and the service can also be taken into account. You have to love it and it is not really cheap, but it certainly is an experience.
