Tasting wine in France – a no brainer
When you say wine, you say France - right? Quite well. And okay, also Italy, and Spain, and of course South Africa... But that wasn't what this was about. Nope: wine + France = life, we believe. And they love to shout about all kinds of wine tastings. And There you go: a nice list Vin Experiences popped out of our pen. J'adore de Provence, Although it all becomes a little more fun, better and more beautiful when you have one private wine tour in the Côtes de Provence books.
During such a private wine tour you will visit various wineries along the French Riviera in the region Cotes de Provence. Saint Tropez is a stop, just like the idyllic mountain village of Ramatuelle, the beautiful Gassin and of course the holiday town of Grimaud. You only have to decide whether you want white, red or rosé to take home.
The tour starts in Saint Tropez but slightly different than usual (for example, you can dive into the 18th-century citadel and admire the Notre Dame de l'Assomption church). And yes, the well-known, age-old Provencal market where you can taste local culinary delights is also discussed. Of course.
After Saint-Tropez you go to Gassin, a village with a beautiful view of the Massif des Maures. Next comes Grimaud, a medieval village with a castle overlooking the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. And you end in Ramatuelle, the holiday village of yours truly. Of course that has nothing to do with this tour, but that small sloping restaurant? You'll find me there every summer.
Another very good reason to take a wine tour is to start or expand your own wine collection. Then do a joint tour: it is very fun and interesting to hear the opinions of your fellow tasters. Not to be missed? The Burgundian vineyards. The municipality Nuits-Saint-Georges is one of the best wine destinations to visit in the autumn months to visit: the Pinot Noir grapes are picked and turned into the well-known, characteristic wines. The apartments of Vign 'Apart are a stylish and affordable base with its own wine cellar.
Do we still need to provide text and explanation about the region? Champagne? Of course you go there mainly for, right, Champagne. But don't turn your nose up at the Chardonnay from this region (or you should smell it before you taste it of course, that's a good plan). The Côte des Blancs, in the south of Épernay, is a series of villages that produce the characteristic fat wine of this region. The apartments of Bubble 8 are located in a 19th-century building in the center of Épernay, a 2-minute walk from the Moët et Chandon champagne house. During this tasting, you'll delve into old town vaulted cheese and wine cellars and sample the different flavors of regional wines, as well as AOC cheese, a French classification system that recognizes authentic, high-quality products. During the session you will taste nine types of cheese and three Bordeaux wines.
Good idea: take the train to the south of France this summer. Make a transfer (and stay for a few days) in Paris and then travel further until you stop in Aix-en-Provence, a far too often forgotten and really nice (student) city. That is the terminus of the express train from Paris (we rented a car from here, but you can also take local trains if you want).
Either way: Aix-en-Provence is really worth it, and the same goes for the Booking.com excursion that takes you from Aix-en-Provence to the French countryside.
