The nicest wine bars in Amsterdam
While there used to be some wine bars in Amsterdam, they hit us as we speak around the ears. Not that we're complaining! Not at all. Let it pass. But where do you start, that is the question that matters. Where are we going to uncork the first bottle (and the next, and the next, and the one after that...)? Hence a handy overview: de nicest wine bars in Amsterdam.
You are not the first to rush past Amsterdam's Frederiksplein; After all, what are you looking for at this busy intersection? Wrong! Looking forward to wine bar and restaurant Oocker Amsterdam. Of course it depends a bit on which side you come from, but a bit hidden 'behind' the Frederiksplein, next to the Albert Heijn, you will find this great place. The business is run by men who worked at The Lobby, Gebr. Hartering, wine bar Shiraz and Italian restaurant Domenica on the Noordermarkt – all favorites in the city. Which brings us to Oocker: you can't go wrong! terrace in front of the door, excellent wines on the menu and that 'fun all day' atmosphere in the shop.

The Utrechtsestraat has a new favorite. Recently opened Bar Babar its doors, a tent that you have the feeling that it has belonged here for years. At Bar Babar you drink (natural) wines with delicacies from Amsterdam specialty stores. For example, the bread comes from sourdough bakery Mater on the Ceintuurbaan, the cheese from Zuivelhoeve and the wines from Pieksman in Oost and Vleck in the Helmersbuurt. Owners Ruben Charbon and Django Reinhart think it is important to help local entrepreneurs during this time. Upon entering you immediately get a cozy, living room feeling. A cozy bar and influences from French bistros, everything is cozy.
The oh-so-fun part Beukenplein restaurant and wine bar Closed. And they have more than 100 different handmade wines on the menu, hallelujah! They won't be crappy wines; owner and wine genius Rutger de Witte has worked in the wine industry all his life: he had a job at Grape District and he also advised several restaurants on the wine list. In addition to wines, you can also eat there, and if we can believe Rutger, they serve the very best charcuterie board in Amsterdam. We like!
Paulus, the owner, is literally just as small a man as his namesake. We can say that because he makes that joke himself. Paulus pours plenty of tasty, original wines and serves delicious snacks on the side – nothing to complain about. Perfect for an Afternoon Wine. You find Wijnbar Paulus in the Pijp, on the Ceintuurbaan.
For drinks, you’ve come to the right place at De Kleine Bes, our new favorite in the Dapperbuurt. Who is behind it? It’s the same team as R. de Rosa in the Jordaan – also a really great tip. Either way, you are welcome at this awesome corner building with an enclosed terrace from early morning until late at night. The interior? A warm, living-room-like farmhouse atmosphere (because, yes, lots of nice vintage stuff from France) with blue paneling, a cozy bar, and seating of all shapes and sizes. Exactly the kind of neighborhood spot where you spontaneously linger. Orange wine and beers on tap, and for those who want it, a delicious daily special in the evening. And yes, that rhymes. Oh, and they have a sunny terrace, and all day long at that. Healthcare!
The men of Café Binnenvisser are we have roll. Only a few years ago they opened the aforementioned top-class eatery in Amsterdam-West and it immediately became a hit. This was then followed by Restaurant Cornerstore in Amsterdam-Noord. And there was a third adventure: Café Twee Prinsen in the beautiful Prinsenstraat in the center. The café for breakfast until late drinks. This is your typical Amsterdam café with a beautiful interior and, above all, lots of very good wine and good people. Just check that wine cabinet. Apart from the beautiful design (we want that at home too), that cupboard is full of interesting wines. Be sure to check out the orange wine! It's a winner.
Even more favorites in Amsterdam you can find here.
Upon entering Sinck, one thing is immediately clear: everything revolves around wine. And let's be honest, we can live with that. A real wine room immediately attracts attention. In this room the most beautiful wines are eagerly waiting to be uncorked. The wine list has been put together by sommelier Sabas, sommelier at De Librije for eight years, who knows what top wines are…

Glou Glou was the first 'fin natural' bar of Amsterdam. The business opened in 2015 on the Tweede van der Helststraat in Amsterdam-Zuid (de Pijp) and since day 1 the small business has always been packed - and rightly so. Because it is so delicious, just right, casual. And everyone inside firmly believes that they will definitely not have a headache the next day - which, we can say, improves the atmosphere. With the success of Glou Glou there had to be a brother. Well, it became a big brother: BAR CENTRAL on the corner of Ten Katemarkt / Bellamystraat in Oud-West. At this second location you can not only choose from a large number of natural wines, but also delicious food. BAM.
Not just any award, but awarded 'Wine Bar of the Year 2022'. They do a nice job with those guys Wine bar Fitting room. The special wines can be ordered by the glass. The menu has all kinds of goodies to share, such as thinly sliced octopus with pimenton de la vera or pork belly with hoisin. Not only advice on the best wines to pair with the dishes, but also the other way around. 10 points for that.
Café Parlotte in the very cozy Westerstraat is the go to for when you have run out of inspiration to discover new places - where you can simply enjoy a nice drink of good wine. Then you have always come to the right place. A nice place, a nice glass of wine (or for the non-wine drinkers among us, a beer), a glass of champagne, oysters, charcuterie, cheese and even more tasty things. So at Café Parlotte.
Wine bar Somm is located on the corner of Baffinstraat and Balboastraat in De Baarsjes, Amsterdam Oud-West. Where most bars serve an x number of wines by the glass, and most by the bottle, this is not difficult here: everything can also be ordered by the glass. Fine! The atmosphere: living room coziness. And don't forget for the summer: there is a top terrace in front of the door.
Fair's fair. From outside we found 4850 at Camperstraat 48-50 in Oost, not the most attractive tent at first. It all looked very clean. Once we crossed the threshold, we were Scandinavian simplicity still very pleased. A large bright space, filled with simple black, sleek tables and chairs, a large industrial cupboard full of wine, and in the center of it all a large wooden bar. The cupboard contains approximately 400 different types of wines, most of which come from France. From Thursday to Sunday they serve a delicious dinner that changes seasonally (make a reservation!). On Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays you can also get coffee there from 09:00 am.
At Rayleigh & Ramsay There are no fewer than 100 open wines that you can tap yourself with a card on which you place credit. You select the quantity (tasting glass, ½ glass or a whole glass) and taste your way to the right wine for you. No fear of thresholds is necessary: the doors from Rayleigh & Ramsay are also wide open to anyone who prefers a coffee, GT or a beer. The menu includes smaller dishes to share but also larger ones, including a deliciously tender rib eye. Perfect with the Domaine Les Creisses, which is firstly delicious and secondly, it is also on the menu as a magnum. For when you are with a group or are just thirsty.
At Lijnbaansgracht 267, a few meters from the loud Leidseplein, there is a wine bar Shiraz. Shiraz is anything but loud, rather the opposite: pleasant noise, quiet music – a bit jazzy – and tranquility. Plop down in one of the soft chairs or, if you're on time, settle down on the lovely sofa in front of the fireplace. Once you have planted your buttocks on such a seat, you will not be able to move away quickly. The bites of it shared menu are not to be despised. You lick your fingers. Literal. And we haven't even talked about the wine yet...
At Cask in Oud-West it is Spanish and Italian wines that make the difference. With tasty snacks of course. Think: antipasti, charcuterie, various cheeses and other small Spanish and Italian meat, fish and vegetarian dishes. A bit of holiday in your own city, that is the idea at Barrica. Oh, and they also have cocktails for the enthusiast (but really you just have to taste those delicious wines here).
