6-course Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage dinner at Yamazato Restaurant in the Okura Hotel Amsterdam

Meanwhile, secretly (not so secretly, but still) there has been one ultimate Japanese restaurant in Amsterdam for years: Yamazato Restaurant in the Okura Hotel Amsterdam. The restaurant that has been allowed to wear a Michelin star for years (since 2002!) is organizing something very (read: really very) nice. In this finest last month of the year, Moët & Chandon proudly presents a 6-course Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage dinner at the Michelin-starred Yamazato Restaurant in Hotel Okura Amsterdam.

The unique 6-course dinner was designed by Chef de Cuisine Tsukasa Hagimori. After a six-month trip to Yamazato Tokyo – the birthplace of the Yamazato restaurants – he returned with a large portion of inspiration. And that inspiration is reflected in the combination of kaiseki cuisine with modern techniques at the dinner. From refined sashimi to tasty sukiyaki, but then as a work of art on your plate.

And of course, these dishes are paired with the Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage cuvées, each selected from different years to enhance the flavours of the dishes and surprise the palette. To name just one: a delicate crab dish paired with a Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage champagne. Start the evening with a glass of the refined Impérial Reserve, followed by three exceptional vintages (2006, 2009, 2016).

Being there is experiencing, but availability is limited. You can make a reservation for

About Yamazato Restaurant Amsterdam @ Okura Hotel

About Yamazato Restaurant Amsterdam @ Okura Hotel

For the Okura Hotel you move to the south of the Amsterdam city center. Close to the Rai and we always thought that was quite far away. Funny how the years change that perception: now it was a pre-drink in the Pijp, a 10-minute walk, a friendly smile in the large, stylish but somewhat businesslike lobby of the Okura Hotel (fitting its clientele) and straight to the back of the lobby where the goal of our evening was: Yamazato Restaurant. One of those places where you immediately know why they have a star: the friendly staff seems to know who you are and your coat is taken off and hung up so gently that you only notice it's gone 5 minutes later.

Dinners are a feast from start to finish with dishes served by ladies in traditional Japanese clothing, and made by Masanori Tomikawa, are/were real works of art. Tomikawa spent years in Japanese kitchens what you taste in, and see in the refined authentic dishes, the Haute Cuisine of Japan but then at Yamazato Restaurant / Okura in Amsterdam.

If you have had a delicious meal, you also want to relax and it is best to do that at the hotel itself. Read why here sleep at Hotel Okura should happen at least once in your life.
