After the success of the DeDAKKAS catering pavilion in Haarlem, the KASTAN catering business opens in Hoofddorp

A sustainable catering pavilion on top of the De Kamp parking garage, with an exceptionally wow-worthy view of Haarlem? Voila: that is deDAKKAS Haarlem. It has been a nice place to stay since it opened in 2019. From the terrace you can see the monumental city center of Haarlem straight in front of you. The dunes on the left, the domed prison on the right and right in front of you the Great St. Bavo Church that towers above the roofs over the length of the nave. Sounds good, yes? Yes!

And since the first business was such a great success, the gentlemen could not stay behind to open a second business. Not in Haarlem, but in Hoofddorp: KASTAN Hoofddorp.

The entrepreneurs, Dennis, Victor and Jeroen, wanted exactly that, did it and call the result DeDAKKAS. They went for a green and urban place that you can visit all year round local, seasonal food. For breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. For wine and specialty beer. And for creativity and culture such as a film festival, network meetings or a cabaret pop-up. It can't be done. DeDakkas was allowed to come there, for a round of excellent crowdfunding, and since then it has been one of our favorite places in Haarlem, summer and winter (but okay, especially in the summer). Mainly because of the location: the service is sometimes easy and sometimes sticking behind the wallpaper...

After the great success with deDAKKAS Haarlem, Dennis and Jeroen wanted more. A second catering business is opened: KASTAN. Near Hoofddorp station. New city, new opportunities. And so they came into contact with beer brewer Gulpener Gijs in the autumn of 2022. Dennis, Jeroen and Gijs continued together with the new business KASTAN, which is named after the many chestnut trees in the garden and the three living chestnut trees under the roof of the property.

At KASTAN guests can also enjoy local food and drinks, inspired by the polder and its agricultural history. This history is reflected not only on the menu, but also in the building. The building is an old wagon shed of the Adolfshoeve from 1880, where the historic wooden trusses and beams of the wagon shed were retained and moved to the new location at the station.
