Allbirds sneakers are all you need to really start running
If I can make one personal positive side note about the entire lockdown, it is that I have finally taken up running again. How I missed running, although I only really found that out when I put on my sneakers and made the first careful kilometers in two years. Half the fun and the boost was a sleek suit and nice, really good shoes. The new Allbirds Tree Dashers to be precise. And the story behind these cool pattas is also very cool.
Where it all started: in 2016 in San Francisco. Of course the place to be as an innovative brand and if Allbirds is anything, it is an innovator in the fashion world. The shoes are produced in such a way that they have as little effect on nature as possible and the shoes are also beautiful in terms of simplicity. This does not mean new models every season, but timeless shoes that will last a long time. Because Allbirds uses reusable merino wool from New Zealand and responsibly produced fibers from South Africa, virtually no CO2 is released during production. Moreover, the laces are made from recycled plastic bottles, among other things. The Tree Dashers even contain eucalyptus and the soles are made from sugar cane. That's what we call smart and sustainable, dear people.
In terms of looks, we would like to label the Allbirds as clean. Simple, sleek models with few details so that all attention is focused on the beautiful materials. The founders also consciously chose to start with one type, instead of launching ten models at once. It became such a hit that the collection now includes sneakers, slip-ons, boat shoes, flats, socks and – our favorite – functional and washable running shoes.
Let's take a quick step back to the origins of Allbirds and its creator, football player Tim Brown. Tim grew up in New Zealand, the land of sheep and the place where the idea for wool as a basic material for shoes originated. Wool is sustainable, reusable and warm. Together with Joey Zwillinger, Tim developed a 'wool' shoe that was so incredibly comfortable and minimalist, that soon the whole of Silicon Valley was walking around on Allbirds. And then things will move quickly with your startup. Still, Allbirds wants to keep prices low for consumers, which is why they only sell through their website and a few of their own stores. The Dashers are also delivered in the Netherlands and that makes everyone with a little running ambition happy. Run!
