Hidden gem in bustling Borgerhout, Antwerp: welcome to Bar Chapel

You will certainly not find just any bar in the trendy Borgerhout district on the edge of the city of Antwerp. No no, Bar Chapel is rightly so one of a kind. Why? First of all, because the bar is hidden in the back of a small hallway that creates very few expectations when you walk through it. However, once you arrive in the vestibule of Bar Chapel Antwerp, you immediately know: this is going to be fun!

Bar Chapel

The atmospheric and downright cozy interior and especially exterior smiles at you and you know immediately that you don't want to leave for a long time. The old chapel in which Bar Chapel was given a place - hence the name - has been renovated and made cozy by Sanne and Ali. That cozy creation has been particularly successful. Sanne is the creative jack-of-all-trades and interior lover and Ali complements her perfectly as operational jack-of-all-trades and handy-man in charge. This duo ensures that everyone immediately feels at home in the renovated chapel and monastery garden. The best thing is the enormous courtyard where you can comfortably bivouac all summer long. You can enjoy tasty street food, finger food and refreshing drinks all week long. At the weekend you can now also join us for a cozy brunch.
An extra nice thing about Bar Chapel is that every week they work together with a different catering party for their street food. On the site or via the socials you can read which concept is being played in the outdoor kitchen that week. Everything is covered, from flatbread pizzas to Vietnamese cuisine, from sushi to Moroccan cuisine. Something for everyone. Sanne and Ali consciously choose to work with local entrepreneurs and you can taste that authenticity and personality when you eat a street food dish. Would you like to enjoy some alcohol-free fun in the monastery garden? Then definitely try the mocktail with passion fruit and non-alcoholic vodka, a feast for your taste buds from start to finish!

The atmosphere is casual and relaxed and at the back of the garden there is a huge sandbox with play equipment for the little ones. So you can take it with you with peace of mind. Preferably on a 'kids day' so you can sit back with your drink. Expect a creative craft table and cheerful faces thanks to their professional children's make-up. A Mexican evening, local markets, Yoga & Brunch and Summer BBQ are also on the agenda at Bar Chapel. Please pay attention when planning your visit: during the week, Bar Chapel is only open from 16 p.m. On weekends from 11am. 'Summer is ours!' says Bar Chapel. Last winter, Sanne and Ali opened the most cozy winter bar in Borgerhout for the first time. You know where to go to enjoy the fun in Antwerp.
