BARTS BATHROOM SECRETS PART 1: The Ritual of Namasté
There has been an idea in the air here at Bart HQ for a while: Barts Bathroom Secrets. We are not getting any younger and we can tell you: all that traveling does not really help. So we increasingly share how we do that, arriving on location looking fresh and fruity. Which products we use (you can already read about many of them via Barts Green Booklet), what we carry around the world and what we retreat to at home. The first part in this Bart Bathroom Secrets series is a personal one, written by Maartje, because hey, someone has to kick things off, right? And Bart's beauty shelf is now full of The Ritual of Namasté.
To put the elephant in the china shop straight away: I never really did anything about myself. Neither my appearance nor a healthy constitution. And well, then there comes a time when that elephant rams you right in the face. That you are approaching 40 (ouch) and – apparently – you can no longer get away with diving into your nest without washing your face. That you have never touched a jar of eye cream, have no idea what the difference is between day and night cream and that you don't know how to spell conclea-watte. Do those people still exist, I hear you think? Sure.
So at the beginning of this year (we're talking 2020), when the sleepless nights and horror mirror images had reached their lowest point, I started a new life. Not rücksichtloos, no no, baby steps. Less meat (much less), more water (much more: I even drink tea these days and anyone who knows me knows how much I hate it), less alcohol (slightly less) and more self-care. Overall self-care and self-love in the bathroom.
So when I got the opportunity a little after the start of 2020 to collaborate with the Dutch Rituals Cosmetics (I was already a fan and already had a number of delights in the bathroom, as our bathroom shelf shows), I grabbed it with both hands. Because how nice not to see an already beautiful girl in her early 20s promoting a product, right? But someone from whom there is really something to be gained. Ha! I would like to hear from you at the beginning of 2021 whether it helped.
Now of course it's not all that complicated. You wash your face with the nice, wonderfully scented products, put some things on it again, go to sleep and do the same the next morning with the jars that say 'day' instead of 'night'. But I seriously had (have) no idea what goes when when we talk about oil, toner or, even worse: a serum. Hence for anyone as ignorant as I am (and for myself, as a reference guide), the one and only how to:
I use The Ritual of Namaste Glow, an anti-aging line with skin care products for women and men between the ages of 30 and 45. The main ingredients are saffron crocus and sacred lotus. The combination of these ingredients helps the skin regenerate and results in smooth, radiant skin. The Glow collection helps against skin aging, minimizes fine lines and gives the skin a healthy appearance. So far so good.
Anyway, cleaning first, morning and evening. I use the Skin Brightening Face Exfoliator from the Purify line. Recommended. No rocket science. On your hand, water, brush. And don't forget your neck!
And then it gets 'complicated': what's next? The serum is the answer. I also use it from the Glow series Anti-aging serum. Pump once or twice, warm between your fingertips and apply to your face, neck and décolleté.
The eye cream is applied at the same time, before or after the serum. I have the. The Ritual of Namasté Glow line Firm & Lift Eye Cream. Dab a little around your eyes and withdraw. Also good for those who have lines around her (or his) mouth!
If you don't have time for all that hassle (which you regularly do, Rome wasn't built in one day either), then for a change there is the Miracle 3-in-1 Micellar Water. Slowly wipe over your face, eyes and lips with a cotton pad in the morning and evening and repeat until the cotton ball looks clean. Child can do the (face) wash.
But what about that oil? Well, I didn't understand that either and two weeks later it is my favorite product from the entire Glow line (it can also be taken in your hand luggage and turns out to be an all-rounder). The Pure Radiance Face Oil can be used instead of your day or night cream (a few drops on your clean and dry skin) or at the same time as your day or night cream. Look, that's news. For those who, like me, have dry skin in the winter months, simply mix a few drops into the cream for extra nourishment. I thought it was interesting: the oil contains an anti-aging extract of seaweed that minimizes fine lines and crow's feet and improves the firmness and evenness of the skin. A blend of natural oils such as Tsubaki oil and St. John's Wort oil with soothing and caring properties. I also rub it in my hands and massage the ends of my hair with it. Don't let Rituals hear it.
