Casa Quintas, Barril, Western Portugal

Near the coast, halfway through Portugal and around the corner from Ericeira, you will find the breathtaking Barril. There is sea, there is greenery, there is good surf and voilá, there is Casa Quintas! A lovely small-scale quinta where you can laze, swim and enjoy the surroundings. On your own private balcony, in the large garden or by the pool – the people at Casa Quintas know what a holiday is.

It is more than pleasant to spend time outside and if the weather is bad, you can use the communal indoor space. There are games, a fridge full of cold drinks (wine and ice cream!) and the rooms are all different and all oh so beautiful. You may not even step outside the quinta (we understand), but if you get the itch and want to go out, there is more than enough to do and experience. Walking along the cliffs, surfing, mountain biking (also in combination with a wine tasting - bring it on) and you will find your zen during the yoga classes at Casa Quintas itself. Tips about where to go, what to do en where to eat Dutch owners Aranka and Jord also have it in abundance – the best grilled fish, the largest bowls of Sangria and of course the tastiest pastel de nata, they all know it.

The eye wants something too

Everything is in beautiful earthy and terracotta colors, with soft pink tones and dark wood here and there. Throw in some lush greenery and you have a picture. There are beautiful seating areas with large cushions that you immediately want to plop down on, colorful rugs and parasols to cool off under and sip wine, in the large garden you can recover from an active day and of course you can splash in the pool. The pink bathroom in Quarto Sol Rosa is a favorite.

Keffers and Kroost

The children are allowed to come along, even if they would like to. Suite Salgado, Suite Terra and family room Vinho Verde are best suited for this, because they are large. There is more than enough space for a cot or a crib (and you only pay a small surplus for that). There is sometimes some space for other rooms, but that depends on the size of the bed and which room it is in. The people of Casa Quintas can help with this! The four-legged friends stay at home, because there is already plenty of fun going around at Casa Quintas itself. On the adjacent piece of land you will find chickens, ducks and goats. There are two small dogs (very sweet dogs), but if you find that very annoying, the lovely people of Casa Quintas will keep them away from the guests.

Rooms

Casa Quintas has six rooms, or quartos, as they call it (Calada, Mármore, Limao, Vinho Verde, Areia and Sol Rosa) and two suites (Terra and Salgado). The names of the rooms give some idea of ​​the style of your room. We can already reveal that they are all beautiful: there is no wrong choice. The rooms and suites are available for two, three or four people.

Since 2024, Casa Quintas also has an apartment! The apartment/loft is on the second floor, and can easily accommodate four adults. Two children (so six people in total) could also be possible, but that depends on the age of the kids. You will find two separate bedrooms, a spacious bathroom and a living room with kitchenette. Aranka and Jord simply provide breakfast (nice!), and of course you have access to all other services and activities that Casa Quintas offers.
