Hotel de Wereld, Wageningen

In the east of the country, just above the Lower Rhine, you'll find Wageningen. A student city par excellence, it's always a great place for a lively atmosphere, creativity, and of course, great places to have a drink. Wageningen boasts one of the oldest hotels in the Netherlands:  Hotel De WereldYep, this is where the peace negotiations were discussed in 1945 – so there's plenty of history there.

Fast forward to now: Hotel De Wereld is a beautiful boutique hotel with seventeen rooms. All different, all modern, but with one common factor: inspired by World Freedom FightersBanksy on your wall, a touch of Astrid Lindgren, a touch of Lady Liberty, and of course, Nelson Mandela. Each room tells a story, so your stay is not only comfortable but also inspiring.

The hotel is over 170 years old: contemporary with a historic twist. Some rooms have playful details (looking at you Astrid Lindgren) like a playful swing on the ceiling. You can dine at Gastrobar, the in-house A restaurant that recently underwent a makeover. The menu features delicious dishes to share, made with local ingredients. Next to the restaurant, you'll also find the Capitulation Halls, where the liberation was signed. A step back in time with beautiful historical elements.

Location, location, location

Hotel de Wereld is located in the compact center of Wageningen, so whether you're looking for shopping, drinks, or a leisurely meal, you'll find exactly what you're looking for just a stone's throw away. Another interesting thing to keep an eye on during your visit to Wageningen is the cultural scene. scenes, because there's plenty of music, dance, theater, and film entertainment. For example, consider a visit to the Depot Sculpture Gallery. This is a platform for contemporary sculpture, by people, for people. Tired of the city? Wageningen is surrounded by beautiful nature. Within walking distance are several botanical gardens, such as the Arboretum, but you can also easily venture into the woods or floodplains. The Veluwe National Park is also just around the corner. Such a golden combination of city and nature.

The eye wants something too

The exterior of Hotel de Wereld immediately evokes a vacation atmosphere: understated luxury, sunny striped awnings, and a large tree adorned with illuminated lanterns, making the terrace the perfect place to linger until the wee hours. Inside, it's warm and inviting, with stained-glass windows, furniture in vibrant colors and prints, and a light herringbone floor. Plenty of wood, combined with colorful bouquets of flowers, creates a cozy atmosphere. The rooms are all different in design, some more modern, others with more frills and floral wallpaper.

Keffers & Kroost

Pets are allowed in some rooms (not all, so check carefully when booking). The Keffers are also welcome in the restaurant until 17 p.m. and on the terrace until the early hours. Children are also welcome, but Hotel de Wereld is not necessarily equipped for the smallest children. If you do take them with you, the Family Room is the right choice.
