And there's more! Ha! And that's called 'more' Cape Town Social Club, Amsterdam. It is a restaurant, not a club, with a title that slightly hints at The Potluck Club in Cape Town where the two owners first met. Fast forward to 2000-someting when the gentlemen bumped into each other again in Amsterdam. A friendship emerged and the first ideas for a real restaurant. Together. One on the floor, the other in the kitchen. Tadaa: Cape Town Social Club, Amsterdam.
The owners first met in The Potluck Club in South Africa and years later their paths crossed again by chance, in the Zoku hotel in Amsterdam. This led to a close friendship and eventually the idea of starting a business together. 'A representation of a high-end restaurant from South Africa,' is how Heim describes the restaurant. Characteristic are the dark blue walls, which were already there when this was still Jack's BBQ Shack. Much has been renovated, and with the golden lamps and wooden details, the gentlemen want the restaurant to exude a warm feeling.
The menu features small dishes, all intended for sharing. You have different boards with meat, cheese and bread, or you can choose the Harvest Board (€27) with a bit of everything. The chef's favorite vegetarian dish is the Tender Stem Broccoli (€13). There is also a wide range of cocktails, including a drink with lychee, Thai basil and red chili (€14).
