Oh hello, ultimate (classic) dream hotel in the French countryside. Hello Provence, hello Hôtel Crillon le Brave. Hello, never go home again!

Hotel Crillon le Brave is the topic of conversation and that's one of them. The hotel borders a 17th-century hamlet in the Vaucluse department, a charming part of Provence (France) full of vineyards (raise your hands!) and dotted with old stone villages (also hello Instagram). The hotel is spread over nine historic houses at different heights and is a mixture of individual homes connected by small courtyards and charming alleys. Can you guess whether you have a great view between those houses... Right. The are spectacular views on the surrounding hills. Although you can also turn your gaze inward: copy paste home. Everything!

All rooms (and in fact this applies to the entire hotel) have those typical Provencal features of wooden beams, terracotta floors and antique furniture, but have been given a more than tasteful, contemporary update. Thick curtains in the most beautiful prints, sofas to sink into and the luxury that befits a world-class hotel. In short: a hotel where you stay indoors. And outside by the pool of course. Or you should just hang out in the rustic spa. All good, as long as you enjoy the local cuisine, delicious wines and cheeses from the region at the end of the day. Extra fun: your dog and your children can all come along. More oui! Please report in advance, but that is normal.

Is it expensive? Sure. Very expensive. But hey, a person can dream and there is nothing wrong with saving for a few days of ultimate luxury. And if you do that, save, then you can be 100% sure that you are in the right place here. Inside and out. Expect one picture-perfect exterior as you would expect in Provence: lots of greenery, many terraces, many luxurious parasols and not a speck in sight. Inside, the rooms are decorated in soft blue and gray tones, with traditional tommette tiles on the floors: cool in summer, authentic to the region, rustic and classic. The bathrooms are huge! With walk-in showers and claw-foot bath. what else. Oh, and extremely fine bedding of course, just like total peace and privacy, which is of paramount importance.

Also a fun fact: the paintings throughout the hotel, still lifes and landscapes, are by local artists, such as the fairly famous Julian Merrow-Smith.

Although the dinners at Hôtel Crillon le Brave are especially famous and infamous, in a good way. High end dining with local and seasonal products and regional classics in a bistro that is cozy rather than stiff and stuffed. Breakfast is served in the cozy café-bar, although in mild weather everything is moved outside. And rightly so. Do you have the time? Then arrange a wine tasting with the sommelier and drink as much locally as possible.

The spa is above average: you go there for your rest. You won't necessarily find it at the pool (that's where the young people hang), although there is one tooadults only sunbathing area on the side.
