Fellah Hotel, Marrakech
One of the most beautiful slash remarkably affordable (certainly for those formal and casual looks) places where I once took a nap is really, really, really it Fellah Hotel, just fifteen minutes outside Marrakech. It is actually a film set, full of quasi-nonchalantly placed props. Like there's an old Mercedes, a tree house and gigantic cacti everywhere you look.
They are located between seven separate buildings with bedrooms full of the aforementioned beauty, in a chic hippie style. The central restaurant is delicious all day long hanging swimming pool where the lovely staff regularly brings a Moroccan snack to your bed, and the sports room is right behind the main building. Sports room? Yes, I wouldn't normally mention it, but it is a showpiece: a boxing ring surrounded by plants and low windows that provide beautifully saturated light. Even the laziest holidaymaker will be tempted into a bit of sparring, really. The new yoga school, a little further away, is also worth a visit. You will do that because there is not much else to do in the area - nothing to be precise. You hang out with Fellah for a day or two until you go back to town, that's how it is.
Negatives, apart from the relative dullness (or: it's better to do nothing of course, depending on how you look at it)? Still, we have to be critical: the food is really not very good and/or varied, but you can keep it full for two days.
