The best French Restaurants in Rotterdam

They seem to have sprung up like mushrooms in recent years, restaurants with... French twist. You can't avoid it in Rotterdam either. We don't mind, not at all. We love French cuisine with the best flavors. And we also love a glass of wine, so that makes a difference.

These are 5 French restaurants in Rotterdam which makes us very happy. Joie de vivre in Rotterdam!

Bistro LOEVetDIE

Bistro LOEVetDIE

This French bistro is a newcomer in Rotterdam. Located on the Zwaanshals in the Oude Noorden, a street full of vintage boutiques and other nice shops that are worth a visit in themselves. Bee Bistro LOEVetDIE it is love at first sight with the French tiles throughout the restaurant. The chairs, the food and the atmosphere complete the story. You can enjoy typical French dishes, such as steak tartare and escargots or langoustine.

You can share the small starters. The main courses too, of course, but we're guessing you'd rather keep them to yourself. They also have a terrace where you can enjoy people watching on sunny days. Are you going during the day? Take a look at the nice shops on Zwaanshals.

Louise Petit Restaurant

Louise Petit Restaurant

This French vintage splendor is divided into two parts. During the day you have breakfast and lunch at Louise Petit – Dejeuner and for dinner you join us Louise Petit. In the interior you are surrounded by French Bistro meets Vintage Brocante and that gives so much coziness. The French kitchen where they are not afraid to use butter, cream and other delicacies.

We can talk about the map in detail. The only thing we really want to shout from the rooftops is… eat the desserts! We know it's not a complete story, but you shouldn't want to leave without it. Whether you join Louis Petit's dinner or have lunch at Louis petit dejeuner, don't skip dessert.

Café Marseille

Café Marseille

This piece of France in Rotterdam has stolen our hearts. You expect Café Marseille maybe not on 1st Middellandstraat, but it fits perfectly there. The port city of Marseille, just like Rotterdam, has the 'don't talk, just do it' mentality. Unlike what you see at other French Bistros, Marseille is a no-nonsense place. No fancy decoration, but the food speaks for itself. The owner can often be found in the shop himself and we know from experience that he, like the staff, can give you fantastic advice about the menu and wines.

During the day you can go there for coffee, pastry (they have great eclairs!), and baguettes as you normally only find in France, later in the day you can sit down for dinner with their famous moules frites on Monday, oyster Sunday on Sunday ( oysters for 1 Euro!) or for a delicious steak béarnaisse. Do you like French food and could it be a little rougher? Then Café Marseille is the right place for you.

Bistrot Du Bac

Bistrot Du Bac

For the French Bistrot Du Bac (with an extra t yes) we settle in South, on the Deliplein in the trendy Katendrecht district. Bistrot Du Bac has been a household name in Rotterdam for years. With classic French dishes and a very cozy atmosphere, you really feel like you're in France. The black and white tiles, the white linen on the tables and bistro chairs naturally contribute to this.

From delicious tartare to brioche cake with vanilla ice cream. When you walk out after an evening of dining here, you are already planning your next evening in this part of France on 'De Kaap'

Mrs Meijer

Mrs Meijer

This entire list consists of favorite places, but Mrs Meijer has a special place in our hearts. Hostess Karin and Kok Nils met each other when they both worked for Mrs. Meijer
worked. When the old owner sold the restaurant, they did not hesitate for a moment to take over.

Mrs. Meijer has a lot of love for the dishes and you can really taste it. The restaurant is located in a cozy building in North Rotterdam. If you squint your eyes, you imagine yourself in a picturesque street in Paris. The card is compact, so you don't have to worry about choice and you simply can't make a wrong choice. Fresh ingredients and pure flavors, that's what Mrs. Meijer is all about. And the butter… for that reason alone we would like to eat it every day.

La Petite Soeur

La Petite Soeur

The newest in this list is the French bistro La Petite Soeur. The little sister of Bistrot du Bac (also a winner from this list). At La Petite Soeur, the little sister of Bistrot du Bac, you will find a Rotterdam world spot in an intimate and exclusive French ambiance. A bit like Paris, but on the Cape in the heart of Rotterdam. To meet up with friends or to have a blissful moment for yourself. For a special glass of wine, a cocktail, a cold beer and delicious small dishes.

At La Petite Soeur you can really enjoy yourself with taste. We serve a delicious menu full of surprising Petits Plats that you can order separately or combine for lunch and dinner.

You can make a reservation via a reservation system: “Formitable”. La Petite Soeur is a Restobar.
