The country's youngest (soon to be) really nice holiday park Wyldepad, Friesland
Holiday park? Holiday park? Gets! Yes, we hear you say it and think it. Because you didn't scroll down to Barts Boekje to read about a lame park with houses and plastic slides, did you? That's right, we're not really into that here. But we discovered in 2020 that there are also really nice, often very small-scale holiday parks, right in our own country. We wrote a full page about that in the book Little Escapes in the Netherlands (and you can buy that book here) and now there's more good news: holiday park Wyldepad in Friesland is a fact! Or well, almost a fact: the first guests will be allowed to enter in the spring (or early summer) of 2021.
Not yet open and yet the title says 'really nice'. How do you know that? Well, that's a no-brainer: the Het Wyldepad holiday park in Friesland was purchased, will be renovated and will soon be run by the couple Rachel and Willem, together with their long time buddy Martijn. And Rachel is better known as @david_david (anyone who follows her on The Gram knows that she is well suited to styling a beautiful spot), is Willem @DaddyHox who was responsible for, among other things, the opening of the Hoxton Hotel in Amsterdam (good catering blood, so to speak) and Martijn knows – as we understood – how to do business. Tada! If that isn't the basis for a great holiday spot, then we don't know what is.
The park already existed, which is nice: the basis is there. And then it becomes a matter of renovating and sprucing up. There will also be a tepee-style camping corner for the little ones, luxury tents, houses and yurts, flower paths between the houses and, importantly, a very cozy home base. Because the trio are Brabanders, right? So that's going to be a lot of fun, there's no other way. To be continued.
