8 x Hospitality in West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, Zeeland

We don't get there every day either: West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen in Zeeland. With this list at hand, we might want to leave the city bubble more often. To reveal something: most of this list have a sea view and yes, most of them serve oysters. But let's be honest, we seem crazy to make a fuss about that. For a small community with relatively few inhabitants and lots of nature, WZV has an unprecedented number of fantastic restaurants and more Michelin stars than almost all major cities in the Netherlands. Bam, just copy them! Must have something to do with all the range of good natural products and that Burgundian breeze from Belgium.

So, here you go: 8 x catering establishments in West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen in Zeeland.

If you want to try them all in one weekend, these are our favorite places to stay in West Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.

Brewery room, Groede

Brewery room, Groede

Beer lover? That's a good time. Brewer's room in Groede brews its own beer and does this seasonally. And no, this is not a lame brewery. Read: thirty taps, eleven meter long concrete bar, three nitro taps and two pouring tanks. Sounds like music to your ears? There's more! What is seasonal (just like the beer) are the weekly rotating dishes. It just depends on what comes in at that moment from your own (yes, your own) farm and picking garden. Do you suffer terribly from choice stress? Then order the chef's menu. Here (as the name might suggest) the chef takes you through a selection of dishes.

Shed Tien, Breskens

Shed Tien, Breskens

Did someone say beach tent? Yes, us! For a day at the beach tents you can relax at Shed Ten. A small (but nice) tent with a beautiful view of the lighthouse and the Buenos Aires from Vlissingen. Lounging is central here, chill music and nice lounge sofas. You can come here from just having your coffee, but we understand very well that you will not want to get up once you are here. Just enjoy it for lunch, drinks and hey, why not, dinner.

The Eetboutique, Sluis

The Eetboutique, Sluis

The Eating Boutique in Sluis is a concept in which brunch, high tea and lifestyle come together. That sounds like a very nice mix. And the lunch menu is just as delicious. Eggs Benedict with salmon on a brioche, a piadina (Italian flatbread) with Falafel or (for the fancy ones among us) an oyster platter. During lunch you have plenty of time to shop (without getting up, which is wonderful). In the shop you will find beautiful tableware, cushions, soaps and other home accessories. If there's nothing for you (which is doubtful), just come back another time. The offer is changing rapidly.

Brasserie Loulou, Cadzand-Bad

Brasserie Loulou, Cadzand-Bad

If you don't feel like dealing with frills and fuss, we present you: Brasserie Loulou in Cadzand. Here you can eat good and honest dishes for fair prices. Loulou is one of those authentic brasserie where you simply eat well. A lot of focus on vegetarian and vegan (you can get that in more places), but at Loulou they go the extra mile. There is something for everyone here and it is also a very pleasant place. Oh, and here you are again with a wonderful view. You are looking out at the sea.

Bistro Beaufort Seafood & Winebar, Cadzand-Bad

Bistro Beaufort Seafood & Winebar, Cadzand-Bad

A bistro with seafood and wine as a specialization, sounds good? Then you want to lower yourself onto the mega relaxed banks of Bistro Beaufort. Again, catering on the beach. But let's be honest, you won't hear us complaining and a weekend in Zeeland simply includes an oyster (or two, or three). Just go to the beach, all year round. Oh, and with one seafood platter and wine it is certainly a good idea.

Silt & Salt, Retranchement

Silt & Salt, Retranchement

One that stands out from the others in this list. This hotspot Salt & Salt is not directly on the sea, but on the Dutch-Belgian border and almost directly on the nature reserve 't Zwin (you walk a few steps over the dike and you are there). On the menu: Fruits de mer and fresh North Sea fish. The cuisine is classic French-Zeeland and local products predominate.

Love Lies, Breskens

Love Lies, Breskens

This hotspot is as cute as its name: Love Lies. This restaurant is not only very beautiful and cozy, the food is (how could it be otherwise) top notch! This is another concept that makes us very happy: breakfast and lunch in combination with a store full of home accessories. And, to top it all off: this gem is also located on the water. Whether the sun is shining or the sky is pouring down: the enormous glass sliding doors ensure that you are always comfortable!

The Sluis Mill, Sluis

The Sluis Mill, Sluis

In the Middle Ages, Sluis had about ten mills, of which only three remained in 1920. This mill is one of them. In the brasserie you can enjoy a delicious lunch or a drink on the terrace in the courtyard. The menu has been expanded with those old golden lunch classics. A well-filled pancake, an egg roll with ham and cheese or a Flemish stew. You can sink into the semi-circular leather sofas or on the chairs with soft rugs.
