Ultimate enjoyment near Paris: Hotel Le Barn France
The barn doors of the great French Hotel Le Kids are open again! The dream of city dwellers in a beautiful forest (the forest of Rambouillet). The hotel is located on a vast estate under the smoke of Paris: generous proportions and the unpretentious atmosphere of a Midwestern ranch, and an (im)perfect interior (the work of Parisian design studio Be-Poles, just look it up). We can tell you that it is an excellent combination with a city trip to Paris.
Hotel Le Barn is located 90 kilometers south of Paris where you drive into nature past cute French villages and meadows, after which you arrive at the hotel. Huge amounts of land, a sauna, a large fireplace and a lot (really a lot) of cheese and wine. Either: recharge yourself.
The whole thing looks more like that western ranch, or a spot stolen from the Cotswolds. So rich in green. The food, on the other hand, is a French affair through and through. All dishes included restaurant La Serre are a masterclass in Gallic country cuisine, served in a sun-drenched greenhouse (provided it's shining, you understand).
Apart from that greenhouse, the amazing fireplace, the oak and elm-strewn grounds and the main house itself, the stables, the Scandinavian spa, all the cycle paths and walking routes are also more than desirable.
Speaking of 'desirable': the 55 m² Le Barn Suite may be a bit too pricey for most of us (we just looked around the corner), but it is worth the price. Beautifully decorated by the Parisian design studio Be-Poles with a large living room, a kitchen, a cozy bedroom and a spacious private terrace with a barbecue.
There is no swimming pool, but that is not a loss (especially because a city trip to Paris is most fun in the spring and autumn, and this is where you find this nice spot). You can, however, take a dip in the wood-fired Nordic hot tubs: they are located outside, surrounded by terraces and separated by neatly planted borders. Delicious. Or jump into the spa. Le Barn Hotel has a sauna, hammam, Scandi-style hot tubs and a treatment room staffed by an osteopath (from Wednesday to Sunday) and an Ayurvedic masseur (from Friday afternoon to Monday evening). Together they can offer everything from muscle soothing sessions to a tailor-made program for chronic pain. You can also take yoga and pilates classes every weekend and during school holidays.
Small dogs can stay for free, but please let the hotel know that you are bringing your dog: not all rooms are dog-friendly.
The offspring can also come along. In fact, Le Barn is perfect for families. The little ones will certainly love the extensive grounds (vandal-proof!), the choice of play areas everywhere and all the activities (from horse riding to romping in the gardens). Some rooms can be connected and turned into children's dormitories, while others can accommodate a child's bed or extra bed. Great for date night: childcare is also available.
Last but not least: as you would expect from such a hotel, everything is handled consciously. Ecological, everything. Yes, the hotel recycles waste and water and composts anything organic from the kitchens. The ingredients used in the restaurant are seasonal and grown on their own farm or sourced from local producers and markets.
